Bengaluru Karnataka India, Karnataka Airties Full time

Senior professional, responsible for Wi-Fi system engineering activities in projects (Orbit and especially NOVA) or project sections having a key business impact. Projects will be complex, requiring strong technical background and analytical thought.

We are developing a next-generation automated Wi-Fi user experience validation and insights platform (NOVA), designed to evaluate user experience, mesh behavior, roaming logic, channel management, and application performance across a wide range of consumer products.

We are looking for a Wi-Fi Systems Engineer who will be responsible for defining, designing, and validating the requirements that drive this platform.

What you will do:

· Act as the System Engineer for the Wi-Fi Test & Insights Platforms, shaping system behavior, architecture, and performance requirements with minimal supervision.

· Define system-level Wi-Fi performance and behavior requirements including roaming, steering, mesh backhaul selection, and application QoE metrics.

· Translate user experience KPIs into measurable performance targets (latency, throughput, recovery times, roaming times, stability metrics).

· Design and maintain test modules and automated test specifications.

· Work closely with Software Development, Automation, Cloud/Data Engineering teams to ensure test framework robustness, data collection completeness, and analytics correctness.

· Ensure the platform is aligned with Wi-Fi standards (802.11ac/ax/be) and mesh performance best practices.

· Perform root-cause analysis on performance anomalies; interpret results and create insights and/or recommended corrective actions.

· Engage in technical discussions with chipset vendors, access point OEMs, and key technology partners to align expectations and capabilities.

· Represent Wi-Fi domain expertise internally and externally including product management, customers, and strategic partner engagements.

· Lead feasibility studies and performance investigations; evaluate new Wi-Fi features (e.g., MLO, OFDMA scheduling strategies, client steering logic).

· Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to overall team knowledge-building.

What you should ideally bring:

· Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field (MSc or PhD is a plus)

· 5+ years of experience in Wi-Fi systems, wireless performance, or network protocol engineering.

· Strong understanding of 802.11 standards, PHY/MAC layer behavior, roaming protocols (11k/v/r), DFS, and mesh networking.

· Demonstrated experience in Wi-Fi performance testing, traffic generation, controlled RF environments, and/or Wi-Fi analytics.

· Ability to interpret RF metrics and network KPIs to diagnose performance issues.

· Experience with system-level problem solving involving both HW and SW components.

· Ability to interface confidently with cross-functional teams, technology vendors, and customers.

· Excellent English communication skills, written and spoken.

· Strong analytical thinking, structured problem solving, and documentation skills.
