Role Overview:-
The Lead - Policy, MSME & Micro LAP is responsible for formulating and overseeing the strategic development, implementation, and management of lending policies related to MSME loans and Micro LAP (Loan Against Property) at Capri Loans. The role involves managing policy frameworks for self-employed professionals and non-professionals, utilizing residential and commercial properties as collateral. The individual will ensure regulatory compliance, optimize risk-return profiles, and drive Business growth while working closely with senior Leadership, sales, credit, and collection team.
Key Responsibilities:-
Policy Formulation & Refinement:-
- Develop and continuously refine lending policies for MSME loans and Micro LAP, with a focus on eligibility criteria, credit assessment, pricing, and product benchmarking to align with Capri Loans’ profitability and market share goals. Establish the analytics operating model, delivery processes, and SLAs for self-serve BI and centralized analytics.
Regulatory Adherence & Risk Management:-
- Ensure that lending policies adhere to all regulatory requirements, particularly those of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and other relevant regulatory bodies. Monitor key risk factors including Non-Performing Assets (NPAs), delinquency trends, and ensure robust legal frameworks, including SARFAESI Act compliance, documentation, and recovery strategies.
Market Analysis & Competitors Benchmarking:-
- Conduct regular market analysis and competitor benchmarking to stay ahead of industry trends. Initiate policy audits and drive innovation in loan structuring, digital underwriting, and MSME/MLAP product offerings.
Policy Execution & Operational Efficiency:-
- Work closely with the credit and risk teams to ensure seamless policy execution across the loan lifecycle, from origination to collections. Focus on enhancing the operational efficiency of MSME and Micro LAP portfolios while maintaining a high standard of risk management.
- Drive data quality management, lineage visibility, and governance standards; ensure compliance with privacy and regulatory needs.
Qualifications and Experience:-
Educational Qualification:-
- MBA/CA
Professional Experience:-
- 15-20 years of experience in the banking or NBFC sector, with a proven track record in MSME lending, LAP/Micro LAP policy formulation, and credit risk management.
- At least 7-10 years of leadership experience in MSME lending, policy execution, and regulatory compliance.
Industry Experience:-
- Demonstrated success in scaling MSME/LAP portfolios, navigating complex regulatory environments, and driving profitability and growth.
- Specific experience in financial institutions like NBFCs focusing on affordable housing finance and MSME sector growth will be an advantage.
Required Skills & Competencies:-
In-depth Regulatory Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of RBI regulations and guidelines, as well as credit appraisal, loan lifecycle management, and recovery processes.
Strategic Leadership & Analytical Skills:
- Strong leadership capabilities with a proven track record of team oversight, innovation, and strategic planning.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions and optimize risk-return profiles.
Policy Drafting & Stakeholder Management:
- Expertise in policy drafting, negotiation, and managing key internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions including sales, collections, and credit teams.
Financial Modeling & Risk Analytics:
- Proficiency in financial modeling, risk analytics, and the use of risk management tools.

Experience in Affordable Housing and MSME Growth:
- A deep understanding of the MSME and affordable housing finance sectors, with a demonstrated ability to drive business growth in these areas.
