As the Head of Legal – India, you’ll play a critical leadership role in managing the legal landscape of our growing India operations while reporting into a global legal function. You’ll be joining a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative team that supports the business across multiple geographies.

You will act as the primary legal advisor to the India business, working closely with senior stakeholders both locally and globally. Your role will focus on legal risk management, contract oversight, regulatory compliance, employment law, and corporate governance. You’ll also be responsible for aligning legal practices in India with our global standards while adapting to local legal frameworks and ensuring ongoing compliance.

This role offers the opportunity to lead with integrity, influence strategic decisions, and shape the legal infrastructure of a global technology business in a rapidly evolving regulatory environment.


What You’ll Do

  • Provide strategic legal advice to the India leadership team on a wide range of matters, including contracts, employment, corporate governance, compliance, intellectual property, and litigation.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage various commercial contracts, vendor agreements, customer contracts, NDAs, and other legal documents.
  • Ensure the business in India is compliant with applicable local laws and global policies.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks associated with the business operations.
  • Be the primary liaison with external counsel and enforcement agencies as required, while managing external legal spend.
  • Conduct legal awareness and compliance training for employees, ensuring best practices across teams.
  • Collaborate with global legal, HR, compliance, and finance teams on cross-functional initiatives and risk mitigation.
  • Monitor and interpret changes in laws and regulations that impact the IT and technology services sector.
  • Support on M&A activity, if applicable, and ensure appropriate legal due diligence and documentation.
  • Lead and manage internal processes to support ISO, data privacy, ethics, and anti-bribery policies.
  • Represent the legal function in leadership forums and provide guidance to senior stakeholders.


What You’ll Need

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) from a reputed Indian law school.
  • Admission to the Bar Council of India.
  • Additional certifications in corporate or IT law (preferred, not mandatory).

Experience

  • 15 - 23 years of total legal experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a reputed law firm.
  • Significant in-house legal experience in the IT/Technology/Telecom sector.
  • Proven experience advising on commercial contracts, employment law, regulatory compliance, and IP matters.
  • Exposure to cross-border legal issues and reporting into international stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of IT and telecommunications regulations, contract lifecycle management, and Indian corporate law.
