Established on 15 January 2002, Jal Bhagirathi Foundation (JBF) is a nonprofit organization addressing the acute water crisis in Western Rajasthan. JBF promotes participatory water management as a sustainable model to ensure long-term water security and community resilience in arid regions.

Position Overview

The Project Manager will lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of water conservation and community development projects across target areas. This role demands strong leadership, strategic planning, and coordination with local communities, government departments, and partner organizations to achieve JBF’s mission of sustainable water management.

Key ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & Implementation
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of water management and conservation projects.
  • Prepare detailed project plans, budgets, and timelines aligned with JBF’s strategic objectives.
  • Supervise project teams and ensure timely and effective execution of all activities.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and donor guidelines.
Community Engagement & Capacity Building
  • Foster active community participation in water resource management initiatives.
  • Design and conduct awareness programs and training on sustainable water practices.
  • Strengthen local governance structures, self-help groups, and community-based organizations.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
  • Establish and manage M&E frameworks to track project performance and impact.
  • Conduct regular field visits to assess progress, challenges, and outcomes.
  • Prepare periodic reports, case studies, and documentation of best practices.
Stakeholder & Partner Coordination
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, donors, and community institutions.
  • Support proposal development, fundraising, and donor reporting activities.
  • Represent JBF in stakeholder meetings, workshops, and public forums.
Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Rural Development, Environmental Science, Water Resource Management, or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in project management, preferably in water conservation, rural development, or community-based programs.
  • Proven experience leading teams and managing multi-stakeholder development projects.

Skills:

  • Strong project management, planning, and execution abilities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, project documentation, and data analysis.
  • Fluency in Hindi and English (knowledge of local dialects preferred).
  • Willingness to travel extensively to rural project sites.
