Marble and Granite Procurement Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Procurement Specialist with deep knowledge of natural stones, especially marble and granite, to manage end-to-end sourcing, vendor management, and cost control for stone procurement. The ideal candidate should have strong industry connections, negotiation skills, and technical understanding of quality grading, logistics, and import/export documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Sourcing & Procurement:
- Identify and engage with local and international suppliers of marble, granite, and other natural stones.
- Evaluate material quality, finishes, slab sizing, and suitability as per project requirements.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery timelines, and payment terms with vendors to ensure optimal cost and value.
Vendor Management:
- Build and maintain a strong network of quarries, distributors, and fabricators.
- Conduct vendor assessments and audits for quality, compliance, and reliability.
- Maintain supplier performance records and initiate corrective action when needed.
Inventory & Logistics:
- Coordinate with logistics partners to ensure timely delivery of materials to project sites or warehouses.
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast procurement needs based on project timelines.
- Ensure proper documentation for import/export, customs clearance, and transportation.
Cost & Quality Control:
- Conduct market analysis to stay updated on pricing trends and material availability.
- Work with project managers, architects, and designers to ensure selected stones meet quality and design specifications.
- Minimize wastage through optimized procurement planning and slab yield calculations.
Cross-functional Coordination:
- Liaise with the design, construction, and commercial teams to align procurement with project schedules.
- Ensure procurement aligns with budgetary guidelines and project specifications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
- Certification in procurement/supply chain (e.g., CSCP, CIPS) is a plus.
Experience:
- Prior experience in vendor sourcing, import processes, and project-based procurement.
Key Skills:
- Strong knowledge of natural stone types, grades, finishes, and applications.
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Familiarity with international sourcing and customs procedures.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP systems, and procurement software.
- Attention to detail, especially in quality inspection and documentation.
Preferred Traits:
- Industry contacts in India, Italy, Turkey, China, or Brazil (major sourcing regions).
- Ability to travel to quarries or supplier locations as needed.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
