Job Description

To set the direction for sales and manage the overall contracts for North America to deliver weekly, volume, and revenue targets for NAM & LATAM trade by formulating target customers, commodities, corridor, etc., and driving sales efforts toward the same.

Main Responsibilities
  • To translate the trade direction set by Area on the agreed targets with regions and trades into a local direction and to deliver the same
  • To provide local expertise on the trade, market intelligence, pricing, product, and placement
  • To manage trade lane performance based on agreed action plans and focus on delivering trade goals by leveraging standard tools and processes to manage profitability
  • To co-ordinate with Trade Manager in direction setting for NAM and LATAM Trade for Area India
  • To conduct QBR with all the contracting customers of Area India and keep the pace of the monthly/quarterly performance and adjust + map the strategy accordingly
  • To analyze products and services compared to competition and review with Centre Trade Manager and Network teams so that our product and service offerings remain competitive in the market
  • To synergize and bundle the local products and services on Inlands along the competent ocean product
  • Responsible to grow consolidation market share
  • Provide coaching under the span of control
Functions and Duties
  • Identify sales leads and initiate/take action to win business
  • Prepare weekly volume evolution of 40' and consolidations
  • Actively work towards developing business for All Trades Export & Import
  • Direct customer contact, proactive and reactive
  • Visit customers & determine SOP for their business as required
  • Input into Salesforce profile and details
  • Analyze customer data from FIS and QlikView on a regular basis
  • Customer Potential Evaluation (Short/Long-term forecast)
  • Account Plan and Visit Preparation
  • MR planning
  • Analyze and work on Sales Funnel
  • Target Opportunity identification
  • Prepare data about customer financial situation and credibility
  • Conclude Contracts/rate agreements (proposal, negotiation, closing)
  • Equipment forecast by analyzing past performance and market conditions
  • Monitor out standings and payments of customers
  • Coordinate with QSC, Sales Support Desk on a daily basis on bookings, Customer follow-ups etc.
  • Coordinate with Finance and ops Department on issues related to payment, Outstanding, and operational matters
  • Roll-over communication (Full-Ship-Situation)
  • Provide a weekly market update on the current market scenario
  • Actively participate in sales lead follow-ups with the respective load ports
  • Work towards actively developing new customers on board with HL
  • In line with the objective set work at developing NVO Segment
  • Work towards increasing the volume & revenue, to meet overall HL objectives
  • Analyze competition information & work towards getting new customers on board with Hapag Lloyd
  • Help resolve customer/business-related disputes & issues as & when they arise in the benefit of HL
Qualifications and Technical Job Requirements
  • University degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a commercial role, preferably in the maritime sector
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of FIS and other HL systems
  • Working knowledge of MS Office
  • Result-driven team player with a proactive attitude
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Goal and deadline-driven
