- Responsible for both producing and presenting original and highimpact digital video output.
- Responsible for originating, scripting, presenting and producing news and video stories which include news, shorts, explainers, interviews, features and reels.
- Has an accomplished presentation style, built up through training and experience in presenting roles, that are fluent and engage the audience.
- Broadcast in a manner which is engaging, entertaining and readily understandable by a nonspecialist audience, making complex issues accessible especially to a young audience.
- Generate ideas and stories; contribute to the creative treatment and be involved in the production of an item or programme; provide clear treatments and proposals, ensuring consistency of content, quality and style.
- Seek ways to increase diversity in our output that reflects the audiences we serve.
- Delivering to tight deadlines while maintaining the highest editorial standards.
- Make the best use of new technologies – in particular developments in social media – in delivering our journalism to audiences and to set an example in learning to operate new systems and adapting to different working methods.
- Build and maintain diverse contact lists and databases; compile and distribute information to other members of the team.
- To provide timely, specialist and assured news coverage and analysis of news and events of interest to the audiences of the BBC.
- At all times to carry out duties in accordance with the organisation's health and safety policy.
Essential:
- Must be fluent in written and spoken Telugu. Should translate copies from English to Telugu. Working knowledge of English language is essential.
- Experience of presenting live newsbased content as a presenter.
- Contribute to digital output whenever required in terms of planning, ideation, producing and presenting content and products such as explainers and live on specific occasions.
- Significant recent experience as a journalist, with an excellent understanding of producing high quality digital content.
- A thorough understanding of production methods used in BBC News and the ability to adapt to new media.
- Has developed, specialist knowledge of the subject area being covered, understanding immediately the impact of one story on the wider picture.
- Demonstrates balanced and unbiased judgement based on a thorough understanding of BBC Editorial Guidelines, target audience, programme and department objectives.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the use of digital technology and stays abreast of developments in the relevant fields.
- Strong team player and ability to build strong relationships with key people in Collective Newsroom and the BBC.
- Demonstrates a commitment to improving diversity in the team and understands how individual differences can benefit the organisation.
- Ability to convey story and programme ideas for BBC News Telugu website and to contribute fully to the planning process.
- Flexibility and adaptability to sustain performance, particularly under pressure to meet deadlines and changing priorities and circumstances.
- Understanding of health and safety procedures and how they apply to newsgathering.
