The 'Mainstreaming Gender in Large Scale Food Fortification (LSFF) Project' aims to offer an overarching strategy for integrating gender into large-scale food fortification programs, focusing on programmatic integration of gender across all aspects of the project.

It aims to inform the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of LSFF supply-side interventions through a comprehensive gender analysis, and risk assessment with identified stakeholders, build the capacity of the LSFF selected supply chain actors to integrate gender within the LSFF supply chain, and inform and include gender-relevant indicators for supply-side LSFF interventions.


INTERNSHIP SUMMARY

The internship is open for students who are in the process of completing or have recently completed a Master's degree or equivalent course and wish to have exposure to gender and the public health domain.

The internship is of three months duration. The interns are expected to work with program staff and assist in various programmatic activities of the project. They will be suitably guided by country office staff.

To build the capacity of the LSFF supply chain actors towards integrating gender within the supply chain, EngenderHealth is in the process of developing contextualized training materials drawn from EngenderHealth's Gender Youth and Social Inclusion (GYSI) framework, existing gender training resources, and the LSFF gender analysis research findings.

The training materials are being converted into Digital Gender Resource Toolkit to train the Gender Master Trainers, who are expected to cascade the training in their respective organizations.

The digital training resource package will be in the form of a hybrid mode to conduct offline and online capacity-strengthening exercises.

EngenderHealth will support in cascading the gender training as well as refresher training.
EngenderHealth is seeking to engage an intern to provide support in developing the training materials.

The training materials are expected to be of high quality, aligning with the current gender discourse, and best practices related to gender mainstreaming strategies and approaches, and most importantly, it should be simple, concise, interactive, and engaging for different categories of audiences in the LSFF supply chain.

In addition, the intern is expected to support the planning and execution of a gender sensitization workshop for the partners supporting the LSFF program.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Support in the review of relevant gender training materials, gender mainstreaming strategies, and the LSFF supply chain partners' activities and materials to assess the need for contextualizing the materials for the LSFF program.
  • Support in the development of training sessions/chapters for the LSFF program digital toolkit, working closely with EngenderHealth and its partners.
The training contents will include, but not limited to:

  • Interactive exercises, job aids including Gender Checklists (e.g. for communications & IEC material), and Gender Self Assessment Tools for LSFF partners to easily review their work
  • Guidance for gender integration in the existing LSFF systems and processes—monitoring framework, work plan, IEC/BCC, training
  • Advocacy resources for operationalizing gender integration into the supplyside intervention of the LSFF program.
  • Support the EngenderHealth team in developing a detailed gender sensitization workshop session plan along with workshop materials and in executing the workshop.
  • Support in coordinating with the digital agency for facilitating discussion and feedback on the training toolkit development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's degree in social sciences or related field. Good writing and communication skills is essential.
