Job description:

  • Competitive candidates will bring the following:
  • Experience installing DB2 and related products
  • Work experience maintaining DB2 infrastructure
  • Experience with DB2 system backup and recovery
  • Strong ISPF skills
  • Proficiency in JCL
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address system issues and DB2 specific errors
  • Ability to code in REXX for new software deployment, disaster recovery and internal tools
  • Strong communication skills and a customer service mindset
  • Experience with SMP/e is a plus
  • Ensure the ongoing, successful operation of the key systems. As a Ensure DB2 remains up and running for all of State Farm's customers by managing the installation, maintenance and support of DB2 and related tools on the z/OS platform.
  • Troubleshoot product issues reported by users or pro-actively detected.
  • Monitor DB2 for stability and recommend/implement actions to address issues.
  • Work with vendors such as IBM and BMC on deploying new product releases, fixes and maintenance.
  • Evaluate new DB2 development and function to determine the impact to infrastructure and applications.
  • Build, support and deploy tools, products and automation
  • Participate in periodic Disaster Recovery exercises; be available on an occasional, rotating basis to support the 24x7 availability of DB2 systems.
  • Assist DB2 Developers and DBAs in using DB2 and related products
