The Giant Eagle Global Capability Center (GCC) in Bangalore serves as our global hub for innovation. With a team of more than 350 members, the GCC empowers us to strengthen internal capabilities in areas such as data analytics, merchandising, eCommerce, quality engineering, and automation. Summary:

As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Data Analytics, you will play a key role in shaping technological decisions to meet the evolving data, analysis, and reporting requirements of the business. Your responsibilities will include supporting daily operations, troubleshooting the Enterprise Semantic Layer (ESL) environment, and overseeing job monitoring. By identifying data needs, establishing mechanisms for data acquisition and reporting, you will ensure that the business operates efficiently. Additionally, you will develop best practices for big data management and encourage knowledge sharing across the organization. Reporting to the Director of Intelligent Automation Data Analytics, you will provide expert guidance on data analysis, reporting, data warehousing, and business intelligence.

The impact you will have:

  • Design/Strategy: Design and maintain database and table schemas for the ESL, create pipelines to facilitate data integration, and develop systems for data warehouse maintenance and business intelligence.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders to optimize ESL table structures for reporting and develop solutions that cater to diverse data requirements.
  • Analytics: Analyze business needs, translate requirements into technical data designs, and document reports and technical specifications to drive informed decision-making.
  • Operations: Ensure smooth operation of data pipelines, support business operations, and troubleshoot issues to meet data availability requirements.

What we look for:

  • 5+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in SQL, relational databases, and familiarity with various NO SQL databases.
  • Expertise in Azure environments including Data Factory, Databricks, Datalake, and DevOps.
  • Hands-on experience in building and optimizing big data pipelines and schemas for performance. Ability to work with API and Stream-based data extraction processes.
  • Collaborative nature with experience working across teams and geographies.
  • Experience in building data pipelines from enterprise applications like Oracle ERP, Salesforce, and more.
  • Knowledge of big data tools such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Spark, Kafka, Python, Scala, Talend, etc.
  • Ability to analyze data processes, implement improvements, and manage data structures efficiently.
  • Proven track record of extracting insights from large datasets and working with big data technologies.
  • Familiarity with BI tools like Tableau, Looker, enhancing data analysis capabilities.
