About the Role

As a Software Engineer II, you'll be in charge of designing, developing, and testing intricate software solutions. Collaborating with various teams to tackle technical challenges.

Education and Key Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a field requiring analytical and logical skills (e.g., software engineering / computer science), OR equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years' professional software engineering experience (coding).
  • Strong proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages (Preferably Python).
  • Knowledge of Relational Databases and proficient in SQL.
  • Experience in writing, extending, and maintaining APIs.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, able to explain technical subjects clearly.
  • Effective collaboration skills within a fast-paced, agile product development team.
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud-based services.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • Experience with professional software engineering practices (e.g., coding standards, reviews, automated testing).
  • Familiarity with source control tools (e.g., git) and branching strategies.
  • Adept at improving testability in applications.
  • Demonstrates accountability, proactive attitude, and agility in agile environments.
  • Ability to showcase work and collaborate effectively within the team.
  • Action-oriented and practical approach to product delivery.
Additional Valued Skills:
  • Knowledge of logging, monitoring, and alerting platforms and tools (e.g., Datadog, Cloudwatch, New Relic, Splunk).
  • Proficiency with CI/CD methodology and tools.
  • Experience working on Linux-based platforms.
  • Familiarity with Data Engineering principles and best practices.
  • Enhancing observability from pre-production to production environments.
  • Proficient in prototyping methodology and tools.
  • Understanding of aviation, particularly its commercial aspects.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Design, code, test, and deploy production-ready code predominantly using Python, HPCC, AWS Big Data Stack (Athena/Glue/EMR).
  • Active participation in the technical team, contributing ideas, reviewing pull requests, analyzing bugs, and aiding users and team members.
  • Collaborating with the team to implement suitable design patterns for new development.
  • Utilizing metrics monitoring tools like DataDog and CloudWatch.
  • Troubleshooting and supporting the team's current products while focusing on team priorities.
  • Working closely with colleagues to understand use cases and estimate related efforts.
  • Implementing relevant and valuable quality metrics.
  • Keeping up-to-date with new technologies and industry trends.
