Job Summary:

The GDC Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining gravity die casting machines to produce high-quality aluminium parts. This role involves monitoring the casting process, inspecting castings, and making necessary adjustments to ensure optimal production and quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Machine Operation:
    • Set up and operate gravity die casting machines according to production schedules and specifications.
    • Adjust machine settings to ensure proper casting parameters and product quality.
  2. Preparation and Setup:
    • Prepare and clean dies and molds before casting.
    • Ensure proper lubrication of dies and molds.
    • Load raw materials (aluminium) into melting furnaces and maintain correct temperatures.
  3. Process Monitoring:
    • Monitor the die casting process, including metal flow and temperature control.
    • Adjust machine settings to address any issues during casting.
  4. Quality Control:
    • Inspect cast parts for defects and ensure they meet quality standards.
    • Perform visual and dimensional inspections using measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
    • Record inspection results and maintain documentation.
  5. Maintenance:
    • Perform routine maintenance on die casting machines and equipment.
    • Report any malfunctions or required repairs to the maintenance team.
  6. Safety and Compliance:
    • Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  7. Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate production records, including quantity produced, machine settings, and any issues encountered.
    • Complete required reports and documentation as per company standards.
  8. Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the production team, quality control inspectors, and maintenance personnel to ensure smooth operation.
    • Communicate any issues or suggestions for process improvements.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in operating and maintaining gravity die casting machines.
    • Knowledge of aluminium die casting processes and parameters.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
