The Commis Chef plays a crucial role in supporting the kitchen team in various food preparation tasks. They work under the supervision of more experienced chefs and contribute to the smooth operation of the kitchen.

The primary responsibilities of a Commis Chef include:

Food Preparation:
Assist in the preparation of ingredients for cooking, such as chopping vegetables, portioning meats, and preparing sauces.

Cooking Assistance:
Support the chefs during the cooking process by following recipes, assembling ingredients, and assisting with cooking techniques.

Station Maintenance:
Keep workstations clean, organized, and stocked with necessary ingredients and equipment.

Quality Control:
Ensure that all food products meet quality and presentation standards set by the head chef or sous chef.

Safety and Hygiene:

Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations at all times, including proper handling and storage of food, as well as maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area.


Learning and Development:
Take initiative to learn new cooking techniques, recipes, and kitchen procedures to advance culinary skills and knowledge.

Team Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff members to ensure efficient workflow and timely preparation of meals.

Communication:

Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding food orders, inventory needs, and any issues or concerns that arise during the shift.


Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a culinary role or relevant culinary education preferred.
  • Basic understanding of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high food quality and safety standards.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges in a dynamic kitchen environment.
