DEPARTMENT: ESCALATOR MANUFACTURING

TITLE: SHOP ASSOCIATE / TRAINEE (MECHANICAL/ ELECTRICAL)

REPORTS TO: MANAGER MANUFACTURING / EXECUTIVE MANUFACTURING

BASIC FUNCTION: Main duties include material planning, assembly and testing of various assemblies, achieving production schedules, and routine maintenance of tools and fixtures used. Responsible for elevator components assembly, setting, achieving production schedules, and routine maintenance of tools used.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To carry out hazard scans before starting work in the work area, follow safe work practices, and Escalator cardinal rules at all times
  • Safely operate machinery, fixtures, and equipment assigned, process products per specifications, and procedures, and perform necessary checks before work
  • Communicate frequently with the team regarding concerns, discrepancies, and ideas for continuous improvement
  • Plan production and material requirements daily after discussing with the supervisor
  • Assemble components as per daily requirements, following work instructions and process sheets
  • Perform equipment TPM daily and ensure 5S in the shop
  • Flexibility in working hours to meet business needs
  • Achieve productivity goals with accuracy and quality, meeting physical job requirements
  • Ensure completion of checklist and quality documents per prescribed formats
  • Follow oral instructions from Supervisor/Superiors and participate in company training programs
  • Report any unusual occurrences/observations to the Supervisor and contribute to continuous improvement activities

EH&S DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure company's EH&S management system implementation in work area
  • Ensure compliance with SP008 - Machine Guarding Safe practice where required
  • Always practice safe work and Escalator cardinal Rules (perform Hazard Scan, Wear appropriate PPE and follow Procedures)

AUTHORITY

  • Ensure no unauthorized persons operate equipment or tools in the assembly shop
  • Ensure LOTO (Electrical/Mechanical/Pneumatic) where power is not required

ACCOUNTABILITY AND MEASURES

  • Job performance measured through Performance Appraisal and Half-Yearly Reviews

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

  • Essential: ITI - FITTER/Electrician/Electronics
  • Experience: Shop associate: 3-4 years of work experience in MFG/Works trainee: 1-2 years of work experience/Apprentice: Completion of ITI
  • Desirable: Knowledge of Crimping, Soldering, Controller/Panel wiring, Drawing reading with basic Troubleshooting Knowledge
  • Other requirement: Minimum English proficiency, must have a passport, willingness to travel abroad for hands-on training and learn a new language

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense and understand instructions in written, oral, or diagram form

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands include using hands, finger handling, reaching, standing, working at heights, walking, sitting, kneeling, and more to perform tasks. Must be able to frequently lift up to 25 Kgs and have specific vision abilities. Minimum height of 5.7 feet and minimum weight of 74 Kgs
