Position Summary

As a part of the Network Operations Center Tier-2 team at F5, you will need a strong technical background in network automation. Your role will involve in-depth analysis and resolution of network and infrastructure issues that Tier-1 support could not resolve.

In this leadership role within the NOC team, you will focus on tooling automation to ensure our customers achieve a network availability SLO of 99.999%. The ideal candidate will have practical experience in implementing network monitoring and alerting automation to improve efficiency and responsiveness.

NOC Engineers meticulously analyze alerts and triggers in the ticketing system, promptly informing customers of any significant impact and proactively taking steps to restore service. This may involve rerouting traffic, collaborating with the Engineering team for quick fixes, or declaring broader incidents.

What will you do?

Engineering & Analysis: (60%)

Tackle technical issues raised by Tier-1 engineers to reduce escalations to the engineering team. Enhance network infrastructure observability through automation, advanced monitoring solutions, and proactive issue identification. Configure customized alerting systems for various network metrics and engage with customers upon alerts to provide insights. Conduct Root Cause Analysis of network incidents, troubleshoot advanced network configurations, and implement automation processes. Communicate effectively with teammates, customers, and stakeholders to address network issues. Lead solution requirements definition, evaluation, and selection for network technologies and services.

Production support: (40%)

Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, optimize incident triggers for efficiency, and collaborate with technical personnel. Serve as a subject matter expert on network matters, handle network alerts, participate in customer calls and on-call rotations. Assist the team in addressing operational issues, perform Tier-2 troubleshooting, and communicate with affected users.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience in Application and Infrastructure Monitoring, strong understanding of F5 products, OSI networking model, network protocols, network automation, and CI/CD tools. Ability to work under pressure, communicate effectively, work independently on network-related issues, and manage time efficiently. Strong problem-solving, analytical, planning, and documentation skills.

Qualifications

5-8 years of network support experience, strong technology background, BA/BS in Computer Science, and Industry certifications in networking technology. Nice to have: Certifications in networking equipment and technologies like Kubernetes, AWS EKS, and Linux administration.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Duties are performed in a normal office environment using a computer and may require occasional travel. Duties may include being on call, working outside normal hours, and traveling occasionally.
