As a Software Asset Management Technical Analyst you will be responsible for daily and strategic management and control of the software portfolio in order to optimize the value, cost and risk of software.
You will develop reports that pull data from various sources showing license entitlements, installations, usage, renewal, procurement status, and data gaps and research and develop standardized Asset Management processes.
You will work closely with subject matter experts, including system architects, project and program managers, financial managers, and engineers to obtain critical information required for the management of software.
You will drive decisions regarding software licensing models and terms that have a direct impact on the Organisation's IT Infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Collect and maintain accurate Software Licensing information in repositories to address budgeting, software compliance & inventory, contracts, and cost.
Develop and implement tools, processes and procedures to automate the collection, storage and reporting of key software data so that the products can be managed across the enterprise in an effective manner.
Continuously assesses tool capabilities for software discover, inventory, and meter software use for key vendor products. Windows and Unix Engineering required a plus.Provide analysis of the software data that can be used to drive key business decisions.
Provide impact assessments on all pending or potential architectural changes, outlining incremental license or maintenance costs due to change and pinpointing any potential cost mitigation opportunities based on license use metrics or product use changesTrack and ensure notice periods are met for changes and cancellations.
Identify savings opportunities through software re-harvesting and license optimizationRespond to requests from Software Owners, end users, managers, developers, and team members for specific IT Software & Hardware Asset Management information.
Stays informed of new and updated software license models and options for key vendor productsActively assesses risk and cost take out opportunities and makes recommendations to Software Owners and Software Asset Management leadership to optimize the software & Hardware asset portfolio.
Work with stakeholders to enhance the asset management tool helping with the development, customization and enhancement through various integrations, etc.
Qualifications &Skills Required:5+ years of experienceBachelors in Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, Engineering, or equivalent work experienceStrong quantitative, analytical, problem solving skills, including the ability to accumulate, organize, and assimilate large amounts of information.
Engineering experience with Windows and Linux/UNIX environments. Be able to run scripts to gather licensing information and to write queries. OrOracle and/or SQL DBA experience
.Understanding of
Asset Management tools and technologies (e.g., Eracent (3 yrs.) / ServiceNow / Flexera).
Configuration and Customization knowledge would be a plus. Discovery related Troubleshooting would also be an advantage.
Must understand hardware technology and configurations including virtualizationStrong Excel skillsKnowledge of Software & Hardware Asset Management principals / practicesKnowledge of product use rights for publishers such as IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, HP, EMC, Symantec, Adobe, etc.
Strong written & verbal communication skillsStrong cross-functional team leadership skillsAbility to multitaskKnowledge of .NET, SQL, Oracle, Access, VBA for Excel Macros, Python/Pearl/Shell or other scripting languages to collect and manipulate dataKnowledge of SSIS and SSRS is an added advantage.
IAITAM or CSAM certification a plus
