Responsibilities and Performance Metrics:

  • Help the Senior Ethical Compliance Manager in implementing the C&H Ethical and Plan A strategies throughout the company, focusing on top-notch and customer-oriented social and ethical initiatives.
  • Assist the Senior Ethical Compliance Manager in carrying out ethical assessments, audits, and corrective action plans, along with providing tools for capacity building within the M&S Supply Chain, including the HIGG Index FSLM (Facilities Social Labour Module).
  • Perform M&S Ethical Compliance audits in Tier 1 and Tier 2 factories, prepare reports, update PLM and Master Ethical Tracker, upload reports in SharePoint, monitor audit CAP tracker, and coordinate meetings with factories and the Business team.
  • Manage supplier audit data using Sedex and Higg Index, ensuring all suppliers are registered in the Sedex/Higg Platform and that audit reports are uploaded and up to date.
  • Conduct Sedex Self-Assessments and monitor databases, handle supplier linking, validation, and rejection.
  • Track and monitor third parties based on Service Level Agreements, SMETA annual audits, conduct offsite audits when necessary, and perform third-party shadow audits.
  • Collect and review third-party audit reports, as well as CAPs from the factories.
  • Conduct Ethical compliance audits at Tier 2 factories, assess FSLM self-assessment and verification progress, and review CAPs.
  • Engage with Tier 1 and Tier 2 factories to oversee Ethical compliance improvement plans, train employees in M&S approved factories to adhere to M&S Global Sourcing Principles (GSP).
  • Provide training and raise awareness among suppliers regarding M&S auditing policy and Ethical grading.
  • Collaborate with UK & office colleagues and third-party auditors to coordinate audits as needed.
  • Gather and compile data for the Interactive Map of Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, Benchmarks, and public reporting.
  • Support M&S project activities, monitor and collect information, prepare reports from project stakeholders and factories, and update the Senior Ethical Compliance Manager.
  • Investigate and prepare reports on any complaints received from Media/Trade Union/NGO/Anonymous sources.
  • Monitor monthly compliance information, prepare PPTs for social compliance updates, provide quarterly M&S production order percentage status updates, and semi-annually analyze wage reports.
  • Manage licenses (Disney/Hasbro/UK Fashion and other licenses) onboarding process and monitoring.
  • Maintain documentation for internal and external reporting purposes in alignment with key C&H measurements and targets, including audit ranking, program worker numbers, impact measurements, and supply chain allegation issues.
  • Ensure compliance with M&S Global Sourcing Principles and ETI Base codes in M&S approved suppliers and factories.
  • Ensure fair treatment, dignity, and respect for the people in our supply chains, promoting human rights and striving to achieve a net zero business.
  • Collaborate with supplier partners to enhance standards and improve working conditions.
  • Offer guidance and support to supplier partners to help them understand our requirements and implement necessary policies and procedures for environmentally responsible, fair, and ethical supply chains.
  • Retain the right to monitor supplier partners' compliance through various means such as self-assessment, due diligence reviews, worker voice programs, or audits.
  • Collect data for the Modern Slavery report, Plan A, and Annual report addressing ethical and human rights concerns.
  • Travel to various parts of India for audits and project monitoring.
  • Undertake any ad hoc projects or tasks assigned by the line manager based on business requirements.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree or relevant professional certification.
  • Possess a minimum of 8 years of experience in internal or external audit roles.
  • Certification in SA 8000 / WRAP / ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 or equivalent 3rd party accreditation (APSCA).
  • Familiarity with local government laws and regulations, Employment, Wages, and Health & Safety laws.
  • Demonstrate a strong passion for Ethical trading, responsible sourcing, human rights, and ethics.
  • Proficient in analyzing and interpreting data (Sedex, Worldly, PLM, SAP) and presenting results to support strategic decision-making.
  • Excellent communication skills within the UK Ethical team, Supply Base, and Global Sourcing Offices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and local languages.
  • Comfortable with local and international travel.
  • Capacity to learn new technical skills, absorb information, and manage personal development.
  • Possess high integrity and uphold ethical standards while meeting the commercial needs of the business.
  • Skilled in multitasking, working under tight deadlines, knowing when to make decisions independently and when to seek guidance.
