Position Summary
The GPS Data & Analytics Software Engineer position is responsible for creating data solutions and operations support for the Enterprise data lake.
This role involves developing pipelines for data enablement projects, production/application support and enhancements, as well as supporting data operations activities.
Additional responsibilities include data analysis, data operations processes and tools, data cataloging, and enhancing data Subject Matter Expertise (SME) skills within the Global Product Development and Supply – Data and Analytics Enablement organization.
Position Responsibilities
- The Data Engineer will design, construct, and maintain data products, evolve data products, and utilize the most appropriate data architecture to meet our organization's data requirements to support GPS
- Deliver high-quality data products and analytics-ready data solutions
- Develop and manage data models for reporting and analysis needs
- Implement ad-hoc analytic solutions from design to deployment and lifecycle management
Optimize data storage and retrieval for efficient performance and scalability
- Collaborate with data architects, analysts, and scientists to understand data needs and ensure data infrastructure supports them
- Ensure data quality and integrity through validation and testing
- Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and analytics
- Work with data and analytic technologies such as MS Excel Macro, Tableau, Cloudera Data Platform, Python, and various Cloud Products
Participate in the lifecycle of the enterprise data lake and analytics digital capabilities
- Develop cloud-based data pipelines
- Define data operations support and experience with related tools
- Build end-to-end ETL pipelines for data processing and visualization
Proficiency in Python, Spark, SQL, AWS Redshift, S3, Glue, Athena, and AI technologies
- Familiarity with Metadata platforms, Neo4J, IAM, and other AWS Services
- Experience with Cloud infrastructure management
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvements
Architect and develop data solutions compliant with legal and company guidelines
Assess system performance and recommend enhancements
Responsible for data acquisition/operational capabilities such as Data Catalog, User Access Tracking, and Data Use Request
Desired Experience
2-3 years of experience in IT developing AWS cloud-native data lakes and ecosystems
Deeper understanding of cloud technologies, preferably AWS, in data and analytics solutions
Programming skills in Python and Spark, proficiency in AWS, and knowledge of data security best practices
Experience with operations, production support, and onshore-offshore delivery models
Ideal Candidates Would Also Have:
- Prior experience in global life sciences, particularly in GPS
- Experience working internationally with diverse stakeholders
- Strong communication and presentation skills
Other Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
