Director /Sr Director - Software Engineering (Site Leader)

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of how Software Technology and Business are intertwined and aligned within an organization. They will have a strong India business focus and track record driving business results through technology enablement. This position is critical in developing and executing the India Site Strategy, including process, technology, and infrastructure efficiency.

The candidate should have minimum years of experience in the Software technical industry preferably in Automotive (not a requirement). Minimum of 4 to 5 years in a leadership role managing a site.

The position will report to the global Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Cerence.

Overall, plays a critical role in shaping the technical direction of the organization, driving innovation, ensuring high-quality software delivery, and leading a team of engineers towards success in achieving the company's goals.

Education

UG: IIT Preferred (not required) PG: IIT Preferred or Phd in Computer Science

Specifically, this role will have following responsibilities:

Develop and execute the technical strategy for the center, aligning it with the organization's broader technical goals and objectives. Provide overall leadership and direction for the technical center. Oversee the day-to-day operations and activities to ensure efficient and effective functioning. Work closely with central technical and executive teams to ensure that the work conducted at the technical center aligns with the company's overall vision and strategies. Contribute to the long-term strategic planning for the technical center. Identify growth opportunities, potential risks, and areas for expansion or improvement. Understanding of P&L and Capital budgeting process while also driving towards improving efficiency in ongoing costs and annual spend. Overseeing and managing the operations including site infrastructure. Prior experience managing a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) site a plus.

Demonstrates a high level of personal and professional integrity and intellectual honesty and ability to handle sensitive and difficult conversations and situations. Experience in change management and communication on cross-functional teams. Develops high performing teams across the organization and focuses on accountability while maintaining high quality results. Extensive peer network and knowledge of how technology is used and implemented in "best-in-class" organizations. Strong presentation and communication skills including the ability to easily communicate highly technical concepts to audiences at all levels of the organization.
