Our team plays a crucial role in our achievements. This position as a Software Engineering Manager is part of our PBM Plus Technology Organization. In this role, you will be responsible for nurturing a team of talented engineers who are dedicated to creating top-notch software products. Your tasks will include promoting agile engineering practices and driving continuous enhancements, advocating for standardized engineering approaches, efficiency, quality, security, and performance.

The Software Engineering Manager supervises a specific work area within the engineering department, overseeing the team, guiding the development and deployment of high-quality software solutions utilizing technologies like Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, SQL/NoSQL databases, and cloud environments such as AWS. This role involves leveraging extensive professional knowledge within established practices to strategize and execute initiatives within the department or team. Collaboration with business partners, fellow engineering teams, architects, infrastructure specialists, and international partners is vital in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead an agile team, working closely with architects and lead engineers to create scalable, reliable, and robust software solutions using tools like Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, SQL/NoSQL databases, Jenkins, GitHub, and AWS services.
  • Offer technical guidance and mentorship to the engineering team, ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards.
  • Engage in code reviews, technical dialogues, and issue-solving sessions.
  • Stay updated on new technologies, frameworks, and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact and adoption.
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop talented software engineers, fostering a diverse and inclusive team.
  • Promote a collaborative and supportive team culture, encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to align development initiatives with business goals.
  • Foster innovation and diverse perspectives by encouraging team members to explore new technologies and propose solutions to complex challenges.
  • Assist other product delivery teams in successfully building, testing, and launching solutions.
  • Provide technical expertise and innovative ideas across the PBM technology organization.
  • Utilize comprehensive knowledge of the product ecosystem, business transactions, technology stack, dependencies, and engineering practices to ensure the design and construction of applications follow solid engineering standards.
  • Take responsibility for the technology assets managed by the team.

Qualifications:

Required Skills:

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to interact with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation abilities.
  • Effective interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Proficient time and project management capabilities.
  • Familiarity with agile methodology, including SCRUM team leadership.
  • Knowledge of modern delivery practices like continuous integration, behavior/test driven development, and specification by example.
  • Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, GitHub, OpenShift, Kafka, NoSQL, AWS, and AWS Serverless services.
  • Solid understanding of OOP, Design Patterns, and Data Structures.
  • Experience in developing REST APIs/Microservices.
  • Thorough comprehension of parallel processing, concurrency, and asynchronous concepts.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and/or AWS DynamoDB.
  • Proficiency in working with the SAM framework, particularly Lambda functions.
  • Skilled in internal integration within the AWS ecosystem using Lambda functions and services like Event Bridge, S3, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, and others.
  • Experience in CI/CD practices, with a prerequisite of GitHub experience.

Required Experience & Education:

  • Over 8 years of professional experience, including leadership roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related engineering field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing technical teams with a focus on nurturing team members.
  • Experience in vendor management following an onshore/offshore model.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage with individuals at different organizational levels.

Preferred:

  • Industry certifications like AWS Solutions Architect, TOGAF, ITIL.

Desired Experience:

  • Background in healthcare industry.
  • Experience coaching team members.
