Position Description:
SSGA is on the lookout for a quantitative analyst to join their Systematic Equity Beta Solutions team. This team focuses on creating strategies and conducting research on factor (smart beta), Climate, and ESG-based equity portfolios for major institutional clients. Handling around $3 trillion USD, the team collaborates with IT teams on strategy implementation. The role involves developing exclusive solutions, crafting custom strategies, and producing research papers. The team works closely with global portfolio management teams, strategists, and international clients.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in structured equity portfolio construction, long-term equity portfolio assembly, and a proven track record in smart beta signal research and ESG metrics. Proficiency in quantitative portfolio building techniques is a must, with experience in tools like Axioma or Barra being advantageous. Proficiency in coding with Python or R is also required.
Responsibilities:
- Run optimized equity portfolio simulations based on client requirements
- Develop python code infrastructure to aid daily portfolio management
- Research quantitative equity signals in Smart Beta, ESG, and Thematic areas
- Assist PMs, Strategists, and Clients with their portfolio solution needs
- Collaborate, present, and document research on the latest quantitative equity portfolio developments
- Create thought leadership content to assist clients and enhance sales pitches
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree from a top-tier college is essential; having an advanced degree (MBA, MA, or MS) or CFA is a bonus
- A minimum of 2-4 years of investment experience is necessary, preferably with exposure to factor research in active quantitative research or smart beta strategies. Familiarity with ESG Investing is a plus
- Knowledge of factor research in academic or industry settings is beneficial
- Familiarity with front office tools like Factset, Bloomberg, and risk platforms (e.g., Axioma, Barra) is advantageous
- Strong quantitative skills, particularly in Python, are highly recommended
- Effective communication and robust organizational, time management, and project management skills are crucial
- A passion for developing creative and innovative solutions is highly desirable
