Duties

Under the supervision of Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for carpentry tasks.

These include constructing, altering, repairing, and modifying buildings and structures, fitting panels, partitions, and other wood or other wood substitute components.

The incumbent may install, maintain, and repair of furniture, doors, windows, drywall partitions, and modular furniture for various offices and residences that form part of the U.S.

Consulate community.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) years' experience as senior carpenter/mechanic in an established carpentry shop/establishment is required.

Key Requirements:

  • Completion of Secondary School and Vocational Course in Carpentry trade.
  • Two years' experience as senior carpenter/mechanic.(See Experience section)
  • English and Hindi/Marathi language is required. (See Language section)

Level 1 (Basic):Examples: Basic greetings, phrases, numbers and signs.

Level 2 (Limited): Examples: Directions, simple questions.

Level 3 (Good Working Knowledge):Examples: Conversations about familiar topics, complex documents.

Level 4 (Fluent):Examples: Infer nuanced meaning from complex documents.

Level 5 (Translator): Examples: Certified professional translator in this language.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
