The Giant Eagle GCC in Bangalore is our global capability center.

Our team of more than 370 members at the GCC enables us to expand internal capabilities in the areas such as data analytics, merchandising and e Commerce, quality engineering, and automation to generate insights for faster decision-making and help us accelerate our business strategy.

Our team in India plays a pivotal role in helping the company transition to new ways of working by redefining the food and grocery shopping experience for over 4.6 million customers.

Job Description Summary
You will serve as the subject matter and technical expert for assigned applications.

You will work with the business, and other Team Members to ensure their systems are stable, reliable, scalable, and flexible enough to meet our dynamic business needs.

In addition, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, monitoring, and controlling all aspects of the development of applications, as well as the implementation of packaged systems, in accordance with the Giant Eagle development strategy and standards.

Guide and drive technical discussions with architects and engineering team members to enable a world-class engineering team to implement Dev Ops and automation capabilities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide inputs to define and execute a strategic roadmap for enterprise data architecture by identifying the current landscape and future business goals
  • Provide technical leadership and hands-on implementation role in the areas of data techniques including data access, integration, modelling, visualization, mining, design, and implementation
  • Evolve the architectural capabilities and maturity of the data platform by engaging with enterprise architects and strategic internal and external partners.
  • Manage and scale data pipelines from internal and external data sources to support new product launches and drive data quality across data products.
  • Specify and implement best practices around systems integration, security, performance, and data management.
  • Create data products for data science and business analyst team members to improve their productivity
  • Foster a culture of sharing, re-use, and design for scale, stability, and operational efficiency of data and analytical solutions.
  • Lead a globally distributed team to deliver high-quality solutions.
Manage functional & non-functional scope and quality

  • Help establish standard data practices like governance and address other non-functional issues like data security, privacy, and quality.
  • Partner with data engineers, business leaders, and solutions architects to develop technical architectures for strategic enterprise projects and initiatives.
Experience and Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree/Master's degree
  • 12+ years of overall technology experience that includes at least 6+ years of hands-on software development, data engineering, and systems architecture.
  • Excellent understanding of data technologies landscape
  • Well-versed with the pros and cons of various database technologies like Relational, NO SQL, and Columnar databases
  • Experience in multi-dimensional modelling like star schema, snowflakes, normalized and de-normalized models
  • Experience in one or more ETL, BI, Analytics, and advanced visualization technologies
  • Knowledge in agile development with CI / CD pipeline for data projects
  • Experience with data lake infrastructure, data warehousing, and data analytics tools.
  • Good written and oral communication skills and the ability to use these to convey results comprehensibly to a non-technical audience.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
