Scrum Master

Orchestrates and influences internal and external stakeholders and HPE's functional areas to identify and remove impediments for successful sprint completion.

Scrum Masters are passionate about getting the best out of individuals and teams through the power of self-organization. Supports Agile teams in documenting end user stories as well as helping to manage the product backlog accordingly. Facilitates scrum team meetings, including but not limited to, sprint planning, retrospectives, demos, and sprint reviews.

Coaches others on delivering functional software iteratively, and scrum teams on becoming and operating autonomously, agile in reacting and proactive to make changes quickly when needed.

_ Responsibilities_

  • Organizes and facilitates team backlog management, daily standup meetings, reviews, retrospectives, demos and other scrumrelated rituals.
  • Shares Agile knowledge and best practices across teams to maximize the scrum team ́s performance and effectiveness.
  • Coaches individuals and scrum teams in iteration methods, to be collaborative and customer focused, and to create a transparent environment that facilitates an Agile response to challenges.
  • Builds consensus through collaboration and has the ability to influence teams to achieve autonomy.

_ Education and Experience_

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Typically 4+ years of work experience in related field.
  • 2+ years working on an Agile team or in software development operations is preferred.

_ Knowledge and Skills_

  • Demonstrable proficiency in Agile methods, including Scrum and Kanban
  • Experience working in an environment where Agile was applied at scale.
  • Experience operating in a variety of Software Development Life Cycles (Waterfall, Iterative and Agile).

_ Impact/Scope_

  • Usually works with 1 to 2 scrum teams at any given time.
  • Ability to help people leaders within their teams, to understand their changing role in an Agile environment.
  • Comfortable with the implementation and execution of Scrum in an environment where individuals are unfamiliar with the methodology.

_ Complexity_

  • Ability to work with individuals at all levels; from the individual contributor level up to management level.
  • High degree of autonomy in determining the best course of action.
