Job description:

Please note:
We are a remote-first organization so you can work from anywhere in India. You may be required to travel to our Mumbai office based on business requirements or for company/team events.


You will have a thrilling and practical role as a Principal Data Scientist at
Cactus Labs, the research and development department of
Cactus Communications.This position also gives you a leadership role in Labs -
leading our team of data scientists and engineers in our
applied ML group and collaborating with key business stakeholders including Head of Cactus Labs and our CXOs at times directly for rapid solutioning and problem solving.

The role requires strong experience with both
traditional and modern ML and AI algorithms and architectures, and solid skills in
deploying and maintaining models in production at scale (ideally with a solid foundation in
cloud computing and distributed training) to collaborate better with our engineering and devops teams.


Our production workloads range from
deploying custom LLMs to maintaining state of the art
deep learning models that process billions of words in a year and
fine-tuned image gen models to generate accurate scientific illustrations to name a few of our recent exploits at scale.


Qualifications and prerequisites:

  • 7+ years of experience in the field of
    data science and NLP.
  • Experience with
    ML training and deployment using AWS or GCP stack with strong fundamentals in
    CPU and GPU scaling methods.
  • Experience in leading and mentoring data science teams and
    collaborating with stakeholders across different domains and functions.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, and ability to
    translate complex technical concepts into business value and impact

  • Good to have(s):
  • Knowledge of computer vision techniques, such as image classification, segmentation, or generation particularly with PDFs with custom OCR implementation
  • Ability to convert technical research papers to solution prototypes and eventually experience in scaling prototype experiments to production.
  • Inspiring team members by being well read with uptodate trends and libraries in AI domain and holding conversations with the leadership as well as applied ML team.
