ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Utilizes advanced time management and organizational skills to proactively drive team towards achieving deadlines and executing relentless improvement projects. Advanced knowledge of seasonal calendars, upstream/downstream dependencies and how to mitigate potential issues. Seen as Development process/calendar/deadline expert and mentor. Expert understanding of Development tasks and how to effectively allocate time to tasks based on importance and priority. Guides team to efficiently complete workload within given timelines. Mentors and helps team problem solve complex constructions issues, but knows when to seek additional expertise from peers, HQ Developers, HQ Construction Engineers, FGVs or Development Center. Advanced knowledge of textile & trim properties and how they affect garment construction techniques, product development, and quality assurance. Strong, established cross-functional trust and partnerships through consistently demonstrated collaboration, action and results. Relates well to team members at all levels. Seen as key resource for category task organization. Drives "Global One Team" mentality. Advanced understanding of factory development, production, and LO processes. Extensive factory visits and utilizes advanced knowledge to lead team towards maximizing development/production success. Ability to independently travel and lead Development trips. Advanced knowledge of garment costing components. Strong understanding of the importance of CSC financial targets, how they're managed at the style/category levels, and how to drive team towards targets. Works with the LOs, China Development Center and Costing teams to ensure Product Developers have the necessary tools and training. Proactively delivers clear, concise, and timely enterprise communication with the ability to determine the most effective method. Clarifies the relevant/required information and helps others comprehend situation before proceeding. Provides guidance based on experience. Establishes effective/efficient resolution processes within given timelines by engaging with peers, cross-functional partners, and management. Utilizes advanced enterprise knowledge to involve correct functions in resolution/decision making process. Advanced ability to influence others to an idea, agenda or direction. Utilizes established credibility and fact-based negotiation to build consensus and achieve desired results. Prioritize talent development through tailored, individual learning plans and opportunities to expand business acumen and skillset. Provide growth opportunities and support career visions. Efficiently and effectively lead a team, that could exist up to 4-6 Product Development members. Collaborate with industry leading Vendors and Suppliers to create technical learning material to continue to drive construction fit and costing expertise and excellence. Builds an effective cross-functional alignment by partnering with Fit Engineering and Quality Engineering teams to successfully execute service expectations of internal and external customers. Creates a work environment that builds collaboration and knowledge, fostering open communication of trust and forward thinking. Maintain a strong understanding of the vendors capabilities by partnering with Sourcing, Costing and Materials Research partners. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree specializing in related field and 10+ years of experience in Apparel Manufacturing, Product Development, Sourcing, Materials or Costing. 12+ years of experience without degree. 4+ years of people management experience. Comprehensive knowledge of the apparel industry and commercialization process including upstream/downstream departmental dependencies. Advanced knowledge of apparel product development, garment construction/quality, fit, textiles/trims and manufacturing. Possess strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure, meet strict timelines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Possess advanced written and verbal influencing skills to deal with various levels of management and employees within the organization as well as vendors and global personnel. Ability to drive negotiated deadlines with cross-functional partners through thorough knowledge of process dependencies. Advanced experience with Product Line Management Tools preferred. Flexible work hours to align with HQ early morning or late afternoon process meetings and Product Development Managers Sessions. LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY Position requires the desire and ability to effectively manage 4-6 subject matter experts. Focuses personal learning & development on building management skills and strong enterprise business acumen for future people/team manager roles with increased accountability. JOB SCOPE Complexity is created through the dynamic nature of the apparel industry. Constant changes occur in fashion, construction, trade regulations and the economy. Changes also occur internally with line plans which include last minute changes to fabrics, colors, styling, delivery, wholesales and other related style specific areas. Operates from mainly established procedures but may develop policies and procedures for continuous growth. Work consists of assigned strategic goals or projects over extended periods of time with minimal supervision. Decisions are made within prescribed company policy guidelines and constraints. Complexity is also inherent in managing global market needs and establishing tools and services for multinational markets.
