SELCO firmly believes that an end
- user centric, demand driven approach that focuses on ecosystem building, leads to interventions that are long-term and replicable.


As one of the priority sectors, SELCO Foundation is actively integrating sustainable energy driven solutions for challenges in the agriculture sector for commodity value chains such as rice, millets, spices, tomato, potato and other horticulture produce.

The goal is to develop sustainable energy solutions across these agricultural value chains in order to increase food security, diversify farm incomes and reduce drudgery across processes for on-farm technology, post-harvest processing & value addition.

Specifically, looking at technologies that bring about value among small marginal farmers and entrepreneurs, FPOs, FPC's, SHGs and other stakeholders.

In this regard, SELCO seeks consultancy services to develop a training module with detailed curriculum for training stakeholders on Production, processing and value addition in millet value chain.


Goal:


The 'International Year of Millets 2023', as declared by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), is an opportunity to represent the extensive scope within the Millet value chain at a global level.

As we approach the coming year, SELCO Foundation strives to build a holistic and robust ecosystem around every nodal point within the millet value chain; which can cater to the needs of small and marginalized farming communities within India as well as set a precedent for global sectoral sustainability.

The aim of the project is to develop the training module with a comprehensive training curriculum to train community-based organizations as well as individual farmers.


Objective:


The objective of the training module development is to provide knowledge and skills to individuals or groups involved in decentralized millet processing on the different stages involved in processing millet such as Processing, O&M, effective business planning & branding and marketing.


Scope of work:


Under this work the consultant/agency is expected to develop training modules, and training tools (PPT, Posters, IEC) for the following.


  • Background, need & importance of millets as climate resilient crops for nutrition and food security
  • Importance and need of Decentralized Renewable Energy driven solutions in the millet value chain.
  • Training manual should comprise illustrations and the essential procedures that are supposed to be followed in millet processing and primary value addition
  • Training manual should include
  • Standard package of practice and processes in millet processing
  • Technology specifications, process flow and handling machineries & solar in the millet value chain (especially postharvest processing)
    :Millet postharvest processing Machinery Precleaner, Huller, Destoner, Grader, Polisher and Pulveriser its key features and usage
  • Standard operating procedures
  • Do's and Don'ts,
  • Precautionary measures for operating and handling the machinery, &
  • Safety measures


 Maintenance
  • Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of machine and solar
  • Training module should comprise the components and methods for agribusiness focusing on
  • Improvement and expansion of business for FPOs / SHGs / Individuals
  • Branding and Packaging
  • Marketing
  • Trainers and trainees toolkit
  • User manual briefing for master trainers and facilitators
  • User guidelines booklet for trainees / end user

Methodology:

The agency/consultant will undertake the following:


  • Prioritize the training need:A desk review of existing program documents, reports to know the training needs of the targeted audience

Define the learning objective: Learning objectives should be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) and should align with the identified training needs.

Field visits for better understanding of the process.

  • Two rounds of review and feedback from the review team from SELCO Foundation

Design the training content: Designing and finalization of training module after the review from SELCO Foundation.
Based on the learning objectives, design the content for the training module. Use of multimedia, case studies, and interactive activities can help to make the training more effective and engaging.

Develop the training materials: After designing the content, develop the training materials, including PowerPoint presentations, handouts, video bytes and other training aids. Ensure that the materials are visually appealing, easy to read, and accessible to all learners.
