Designation: Formulation Scientist – BPH

Job Location: BBRC, Syngene International Ltd., Bengaluru

Department: Biopharmaceutics (BPH)

Position Level: 8-II

Job Purpose: To conduct and assist in pre-formulation and phase-appropriate formulation development activities to support pre-clinical and clinical studies.

Key Responsibilities:

Physicochemical properties assessment through pre-formulation studies for new chemical entities (NCEs). Formulation development and feasibility studies to support pre-clinical pharmacokinetics (PK), pharmacology (PD) and toxicology (safety) studies. Assist in oral drug product development to support clinical studies, including but not limited to oral solution, suspension, tablet and capsule dosage forms. Good knowledge/ understanding on solid state characterization of drug substances. Biopharmaceutical risk assessment for drug substance & drug product using in vitro, in silico, in vivo tools. Handling and good knowledge on basic analytical tools/ instruments, used in drug discovery and formulation development work. Record, summarize and present experimental data/ results appropriately and assist in drafting relevant scientific/technical reports. Good working knowledge on MS Office and basic scientific software/ tools, used in drug discovery and formulation development work space. Work collaboratively with internal cross-functional teams while exhibiting the core values of the department and company.

Educational Qualifications & Experience: 

M. Pharm or M.S. in Pharmaceutics/ Pharmaceutical Technology/ Pharmaceutical Chemistry/ Industrial Pharmacy with 5-8 years of relevant industrial experience

Technical Skills:

Understanding on physicochemical properties, Pre-formulation, Formulation Development, Formulation Stability Studies, Solid State Characterization, Data Interpretation.

Performance Expectations:

Able to decide & interpret data. Perform as Independent Contributor. Able to broadly plan the work and able to present the results to clients. Able to balance Speed & Accuracy in work. Able to learn the work quickly. Accurate in performing experiment. Able to follow the direction(s) to execute work. Keeps supervisor informed. Able to manage quality documentation. Be timely with work.
