Job Description:

We are seeking a seasoned Kafka Administrator with at least 5 years of hands-on experience managing Apache Kafka environments. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of Kafka architecture, cluster setup, performance tuning, and security best practices. You will be responsible for maintaining the reliability, availability, and performance of our messaging infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and manage Apache Kafka clusters in production and non-production environments.
  • Monitor Kafka performance metrics and proactively resolve issues related to latency, throughput, and resource utilization.
  • Manage Kafka topics, partitions, replication, and consumer groups.
  • Implement and maintain Kafka security using SSL, SASL, and ACLs.
  • Perform capacity planning and optimization to ensure scalability and reliability.
  • Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to implement and troubleshoot Kafka-based integrations.
  • Automate Kafka operations using scripts and tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Python).
  • Maintain Kafka Connect, Mirror Maker, Schema Registry, and other ecosystem tools.
  • Set up and manage Kafka monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Confluent Control Center, etc.).
  • Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Kafka Administrator in enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of Kafka internals, architecture, and ecosystem tools.
  • Experience with distributed systems, Linux environments, and shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with Confluent Kafka distributions is a plus.
  • Proficient in Kafka security (SSL, Kerberos, SASL, ACLs).
  • Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, etc.).
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) is desirable.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
