Job Purpose:

Directs, coordinates, and supervises all electrical maintenance and other related activities in the plant and includes participating in the preparation of maintenance programmes, directing the implementation of such programmes, examining equipment performance, and providing recommendations to enhance maintainability reliability and to minimize maintenance cost.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Management of Maintenance activities

  • Prepares and implements detailed maintenance procedures and practices ensuring that activities are carried out safely.
  • Ensure timely implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Ensures that electronic and hard copy records are kept and updated for all equipment and that regular preventive and condition monitoring surveys are carried out by subordinates.
  • Monitors the performance and maintenance cost for various mechanical including providing recommendations to enhance maintainability, alleviate operations anomalies, and minimize the maintenance cost of such equipment.
  • Recommend alternative maintenance frequencies based on equipment history or regular monitoring surveys in pursuit of optimization.
  • Liaises with other Maintenance and Operations Department sectional heads to coordinate inter-discipline work activities or to arrange for plant shutdowns, including participating in such shutdowns, major overhauls, and other maintenance planning activities.

Management of Stores consumables

  • Review requirements for any new equipment or major repairs, evaluates use of existing as well as new proposals, and raises recommendations.
  • Ensure no material shortage at any point of time and that delivered materials are in accordance with required standards and specifications.
  • Optimize consumables consumption as per the annual business plan.

5S & Safety

  • Ensure that 5S activities are carried out in the shop floor on daily basis.
  • Ensure use of PPEs and other work specific safety equipment by all employees / workers working inside the plant premises and work toward establishing an accident-free workplace with conducive work environment.
  • Ensure PEP talks / TBT are being given to all employees and workers before starting any operational / Maintenance activities.

Innovation, Automation & Continuous improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement projects for improving the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of the existing equipment's through appropriate data analysis.
  • Perform 7 QC tool-based analysis on various quality related issues / rejections and suggest changes / modification in the production process and procedure.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects in the department. Motivate and encourage team members for maximum participation.
  • Ensure 100% compliance and proper documentation and record keeping as per IMS standards.

People Management

  • Timely completion of the department performance review process.
  • Timely completion of skill assessment process and work towards improving the individual skill index.
  • Ensure maximum participation of team members in employee engagement activities.

Skills & Knowledge

  1. Educational Qualifications & Certifications - Bachelor of Engineering – Electrical, Instrumentation
  2. Total Years of Experience - 15-20 years of experience in Cold Rolling Mill Electrical Maintenance department
