Job Title: Scrum Master – Data Science / Analytics & Data Engineering

Location: (INDIA) Remote(Need based travel: Either Chennai / Bangalore office)

Job Type: Contract

Salary Range: 18L - 20L PA


Role Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Scrum Master (~8 years’ experience) who has deep domain experience in Data Science, Data Analytics, and Data Engineering. You will lead, coach, and facilitate one or more cross-functional agile teams to deliver data-driven solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong technical understanding, hands-on exposure to data pipelines, machine learning/analytics workflows, and will be adept at removing impediments, ensuring delivery, and fostering high team performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Facilitate all Scrum/Agile ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, Backlog Refinement) for one or more Data Science / Analytics / Data Engineering teams.

Partner with Product Owners, Data Architects, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, BI / Analytics leads to build and maintain healthy, prioritized, and well-defined product backlogs.

Translate business requirements into clear, actionable user stories and ensure user stories satisfy INVEST criteria (Independent, Negotiable, Valuable, Estimable, Small, Testable).

Coordinate across teams and with stakeholders (both technical and non-technical) to clarify scope, dependencies, risks, and delivery timelines.

Identify and remove blockers / impediments (technical, infrastructural, cross-team dependency, data availability etc.) to ensure smooth workflow.

Track, measure, and report key Agile metrics (velocity, sprint burn-down/up, cycle time, throughput, defect rates), analyze trends, and drive continuous improvement.

Promote best practices in data engineering & analytics: data pipeline design, data quality, reproducibility, version control, testing, and deployment of ML/analytics models.

Assist in planning capacity, scaling teams, mentoring/coaching team members in Agile mindset and practice.

Ensure alignment of technical debt vs new feature work;
encourage sustainable pace & technical excellence.

Facilitate communication with stakeholders, escalations, changes in scope;
manage expectations.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Experience: ~8+ years in IT, with at least 3-4 years in roles working closely with Data Engineering / Analytics / Data Science teams.

Proven track record as a Scrum Master (or Agile Coach) leading cross-functional / data oriented teams.

Strong understanding of data engineering concepts: ingestion, pipelines (ETL/ELT), data warehouses / data lakes, batch vs stream processing.

Familiarity with data science / ML workflows: feature engineering, model validation, deployment, monitoring.

Hands-on or strong exposure to relevant tools & technologies: e.G. Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Airflow (or other orchestration), SQL and NoSQL systems, cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), BI & visualization tools.

Agile certifications such as CSM, PSM, or equivalent are preferred.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills;
ability to liaise between technical teams and business leaders.

Strong problem solving & analytical mindset;
ability to navigate ambiguity.
