Role Overview

As Manager of HPC Application Support, you will provide HPC resources, tools, and expertise in a complex Linux environment to accelerate business outcomes. Collaborate with Senior Manager to support research scientists, senior HPC SMEs (US/Prague/Singapore), Cloud Engineers, and Technical Analysts to build and maintain HPC applications, driving innovation in life-saving drug discovery at our company Research Labs. Ultimately, you will play a key role in implementing scalable and efficient solutions on AWS to support research scientists UX to  utilize compute-intensive applications.

What will you do in this role:

• Work closely with data scientists, developers, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of RStudio, Jupyter, VS Code and many other applications.

• Provide first and second-level support for applications running on Linux systems, including troubleshooting and resolving complex issues.

• Track and manage incidents using a ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and communication with users.

• Assist users with application-related queries, provide training, and create user documentation in collaboration with Senior Manager.

• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access to applications including but not limited to RStudio, Jupyter, and VS Code.

• Perform routine system administration tasks, such as system monitoring, and performance tuning.

• Provide advanced technical support for Posit products, including troubleshooting and resolving complex issues.

• Develop and maintain scripts to automate routine tasks and improve system efficiency.

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development of best practices for application support.

• Work within a matrix organizational structure, reporting to both the functional manager and Hyderabad based Director, as well as collaborating with other teams.

• Participate in project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with both functional and project goals.

What should you have:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (with relevant experience).

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in application support within a complex Linux environment.

• Proficiency in Linux system administration, shell scripting (Bash, Python), and troubleshooting complex application issues.

• Install, configure, and maintain Posit Workbench, Connect, and Package Manager on Linux servers.

• Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet) and monitoring tools (e.g., Cloud Watch).

• Familiarity with job schedulers like SLURM, AWS ParallelCluster, GridEngine, PBS Pro or other HPC workload managers.

• Strong analytical skills to assess and interpret complex data.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey findings and recommendations.

• Strong problem-solving skills.

• Proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential risks.

• Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate assessments and reporting.

• Understanding of relevant regulations and compliance standards.

• Ability to coordinate with various teams.

• Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
