Role Overview
The role will serve as Essar’s key representative for engaging with ministries, government departments, regulatory bodies, and industry associations in the assigned region. This role is pivotal in building, strengthening, and sustaining government relations, facilitating policy advocacy, and enabling smooth engagement of Essar Capital’s leadership with external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy
- Identify, map, and build relationships with key stakeholders across government ministries, regulatory authorities, and external bodies.
- Act as the first point of contact for government ministries, creating avenues for engagement and advocacy.
- Use personal networks and develop new contacts to enhance outreach and influence opportunities.
- Represent Essar Capital at relevant forums, events, and industry associations (e.G., CII, FICCI).
Relationship Management
- Maintain strong, long-term relations with ministries, regulatory agencies, and junior government functionaries to support Essar’s business agenda.
- Facilitate routine interactions for project-related matters and gather intelligence to support Essar businesses.
- Host, invite, and engage government stakeholders at industry events, conferences, and policy discussions.
Government & Policy Interface
- Conduct meetings with bureaucrats and junior officials to secure relevant information that supports management in high-level engagements.
- Track changes in government regulations, rulings, and policies;
draft reports analyzingpotential impact on Essar businesses. - Provide timely insights on policy developments impacting Essar Capital’s industries and projects.
- Assist in preparation and submission of documents, forms, and applications for policy-related work.
Support to Leadership & CRG Team
- Provide protocol assistance to promoters, directors, CXOs, and senior management during ministry visits.
- Prepare briefing notes, presentations, and communication material for policy engagement.
- Support CRG team members in resolving challenges or bottlenecks caused by regulatory and policy environments.
- Handle fieldwork and operational support for issues related to government administrative authorities.
- Build strong networks with public interest groups and think tanks relevant to Essar’s businesses.
Key Competencies
- Strong relationship-building and networking skills with government and regulatory authorities.
- Deep understanding of government structures, functioning, and policy-making processes.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Ability to align government engagement to business priorities.
- Strong organizational and execution skills.
Experience
- 10- 15 years of relevant experience in government relations and policy advocacy
- Proven track record of engaging with ministries, regulators, and industry associations.
- Experience in managing external stakeholders and facilitating leadership-level engagement
