Job Description – Oracle Linux Engineer


About the Role:

Oracle Linux Engineer to lead our Oracle Linux 7 to 9 upgrade program and strengthen our Linux operations and automation capabilities. This role will focus on lifecycle management, infrastructure automation, and long-term stability of our Linux estate.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the upgrade of Oracle Linux 7 to 9 across development, staging, and production.
  • Own end-to-end OS lifecycle management, patching, and compliance.
  • Automate provisioning, configuration, and upgrades using Terraform, Ansible, and scripting (Shell/Python).
  • Collaborate with application, database, and infrastructure teams to validate workloads on OL9.
  • Implement security hardening, kernel tuning, and system optimization.
  • Provide operational support, root cause analysis, and performance tuning.
  • Maintain documentation, standards, and best practices for Linux platforms.


Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong expertise in Oracle Linux 7/8/9 administration and upgrades.
  • Proven experience with Terraform for IaaS provisioning and automation.
  • Hands-on with YUM/DNF, kernel upgrades, systemd, SELinux, firewalld, networking.
  • Proficiency in automation/scripting (Shell, Python, Ansible).
  • Experience with virtualization (VMware/KVM) and cloud (AWS/Azure/OCI).
  • Solid understanding of OS security hardening & compliance frameworks.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience upgrading Oracle Linux in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Exposure to Oracle DB, WebLogic, or enterprise middleware on Linux.
  • Linux certifications (Oracle OCA/OCP, RHCSA/RHCE).
