Role description:

We are now recruiting a seasoned leader to fill our current vacancy of Associate Technical Director to work on various kinds of Water projects in the UK region from our Design Centers in India.

Job Purpose:

Provide multi-disciplinary leadership for the key account/framework of Arcadis UK water business, establishing and consolidating relationships across Arcadis and our client base, taking ownership for the delivery and associated quality. Ensure effective project/program management and financial controls for key account/framework. Lead a multidisciplinary key client/framework account team, being responsible for the teams performance, people, culture, innovation, and growth. Develop a strong working relationship with key stakeholders/ clients, establish effective channel of communications and actively influence the growth of the team.  Ensure seamless delivery, implementation of Project Management responsibilities and Quality processes. Lead pursuits/ tenders for the key account/framework. Manage resourcing, plan workforce, and proactively identify future recruitment needs for respective key account/framework.  Understand and lead the promotion of the HS&W culture of the business within your discipline. Provide guidance to the team members to meet the changing technical needs toward innovation and growth, adoption of future trends and technologies, driving standardization and automation. Guide regional team/ clients through the technical decision-making process and provide alternative solutions as required. Compliance of Arcadis business management system. Undertake (as required) senior project roles to lead the delivery of major projects. Roles at this level provide inspiring leadership to our people and support them to realise their potential. Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time.

Role accountabilities:

Lead by example to promote continual improvement in SHE performance across the business, including safe by design initiatives and any specific personal targets. Provide professional leadership at account/framework level and be the guardian of technical quality, project commercial performance for the GEC team. Working closely with the GEC BA Manager and UK discipline lead, supporting the recruitment and development of the GEC team, setting objectives and managing performance, to ensure that the team has the resources and capability to achieve desired outcomes. Ensure that complex technical projects are effectively led with good communication and collaboration between GEC, UK and its partner organisations, proactively leading the resolution of technical issues. Keep up to date with developments in the civil engineering sector. In conjunction with UK colleagues, establish and agree key performance targets and financial budgets for the civils team in order to optimise business performance in line with set objectives. Perform independent technical reviews for complex and major projects that are classified as high risk to the Arcadis business. Encourage innovative and entrepreneurial thinking amongst team members.

Qualifications & Experience:

Have a BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Desirable to have achieved/ working towards Chartered Professional status from a UK Engineering Council recognized institute. Minimum 15 years of relevant experience.

Candidates must:

Be able to demonstrate the successful technical/design leadership of a (> 20FTE) team. Have experience of delivering engineering solutions in complex multi-discipinary projects. Sound work experience in the UK water/ wastewater sector. Familiar with British and other international standards and practices. Awareness and applications of Digital tools, BIM and Information management. Cultural awareness and experience of working as part of international project teams Possess a sound understanding of the principles of sustainable design.  Have a strong understanding of the principles of commercial and project management. Be focussed on health, safety and all dimensions of people welfare Have a strong focus on designing and deploying effective project delivery processes.  Be experienced in delivering projects in a design & build and client-side environment from feasibility and concept stage through detailed design delivery.  Lead continuous improvement in Safety by Design and CDM compliance.  Have an awareness of key UK legislation, hazards and safe systems of work. Possess strong stakeholder management skills, e.g. awareness and understanding of other discipline inputs and how this influences civils solutions. Possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Be capable of building credible peer-to-peer relationships with other senior stakeholders.
