POSITION : Deputy General Manager – Finishing

LOCATION: Sri Lanka

SALARY : Gross Rs 600K - Rs 800K


OVERVIEW:

Our client is a leading Fabric Mill seeking for a Deputy General Manager – Finishing who will oversee and manage the finishing operations of the fabric mill, ensuring high-quality output, operational efficiency, and adherence to delivery schedules. The role requires a strong technical background in fabric finishing, leadership skills to manage large teams, and the ability to drive process improvements, cost optimization, and compliance with quality and sustainability standards.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


1.Operational Management

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the finishing department, including bleaching, dyeing, printing, washing, and other finishing processes.
  • Ensure adherence to production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
  • Monitor machine utilization, efficiency, and workflow to optimize capacity.


2.Quality Assurance

  • Oversee quality control processes to ensure fabrics meet required customer specifications and international standards.
  • Drive initiatives to reduce defects, rework, and waste.
  • Implement best practices for process consistency and product reliability.


3.Process Improvement & Innovation

  • Implement lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Introduce new finishing techniques and technologies to improve efficiency, quality, and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with R&D and technical teams on process development and new product trials.


4.Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain standards in line with customer audits, certifications, and sustainability requirements (e.g., ZDHC, OEKO-TEX, GOTS).
  • Enforce strict adherence to EHS guidelines within the finishing operations.


PRE - REQUISITES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering / Chemical Engineering / Production Management or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 12+ years of experience in fabric finishing, with at least 5 years in a senior managerial role in a reputed fabric/textile mill.
