About the Role:

We are looking for a highly skilled Switchgear/Switchboard Design Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical) with strong expertise in UL-compliant switchgear and switchboard design. The ideal candidate must have pure switchgear knowledge and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. This role involves designing mechanical structures, enclosures, and layouts that integrate seamlessly with electrical systems while ensuring compliance with UL, CSA, and IEC standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Development

  • Create detailed designs for enclosures, busbar supports, frames, and layouts for switchgear/switchboards.
  • Develop 2D/3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, and BOMs using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

Standards & Compliance

  • Ensure designs comply with UL 1558 (Switchgear), UL 891 (Switchboards), UL 508A (Control Panels), UL 67 (Panelboards).
  • Consider IP/NEMA ratings, CSA and IEC standards, thermal management, and safety requirements.

Integration & Collaboration

  • Interpret electrical schematics to ensure proper mechanical/electrical integration.
  • Collaborate with electrical designers to provide fully integrated solutions.

Engineering Considerations

  • Address thermal management, mechanical strength, structural stability, and vibration.
  • Validate designs for manufacturability, reliability, and compliance.

Independent Work

  • Lead assigned design tasks independently without step-by-step supervision.
  • Drive design reviews, resolve technical issues, and provide engineering inputs across project phases.
  • Quick learning and fast-grabbing ability to adapt to new challenges quickly.
