Role Description

The Shopify Backend Developer will be responsible for developing and maintaining the backend of our Shopify stores, ensuring functionality, performance, and scalability. Day-to-day tasks include coding, debugging, software development, and collaborating with team members to refine and implement new features. The developer will also be involved in integrating third-party applications and optimizing existing systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage Shopify Plus backend functionalities, APIs, and custom applications.
  • Customize Shopify's Liquid template language and work on Shopify scripts.
  • Build and maintain private/public Shopify apps using Node.js or Ruby.
  • Integrate with third-party services like payment gateways, CRM, ERP, and fulfillment systems.
  • Work closely with the frontend developers, UI/UX designers, and marketing teams to implement new features and troubleshoot issues.
  • Optimize performance and scalability of Shopify stores.
  • Maintain secure coding practices and ensure data protection and privacy compliance.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues related to backend logic and integrations.
Required Skills:
  • 3+ years of experience working with Shopify backend.
  • Proficient in Shopify API (REST & GraphQL).
  • Strong understanding of Liquid, HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS3.
  • Experience with Node.js or Ruby on Rails for app development.
  • Familiarity with webhooks, Shopify CLI, and OAuth.
  • Strong knowledge of version control (Git) and deployment pipelines.
  • Knowledge of eCommerce performance optimization and data security best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Shopify Plus platform.
  • Familiarity with Headless Commerce and Hydrogen/Remix framework.
  • Prior experience in a D2C eCommerce brand or agency setting.
  • Familiarity with tools like Postman, JIRA, and Slack.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is a plus.
