About the Role

The Research Scientist will play a pivotal role in advancing lignocellulosic biomass extraction and valorization, driving innovations that enhance process efficiency and industrial scalability. This position requires a deep understanding of biomass processing, material characterization, and sustainable biorefinery technologies. Working closely with interdisciplinary teams, they will help shape the future of bio-based materials by integrating cutting-edge advancements and ensuring adherence to industry and safety standards.


Your Role & Responsibilities includes (But not limited to)

  • Lead cutting-edge research in lignocellulosic biomass extraction techniques.
  • Develop & optimize process parameters to enhance efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness in biomass processing.
  • Conduct advanced material analysis of extracted cellulose, lignin, and hemicellulose.
  • Prepare and manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure research progress aligns with commercialization goals.
  • Develop detailed project plans, track KPIs, and assess risks to ensure smooth execution of R&D activities.
  • Manage research budgets, ensuring optimal utilization of resources and funding.
  • Prepare technical reports, grant applications, and intellectual property (IP) documentation to support technology development and commercialization.
  • Stay ahead of industry innovations in biorefinery processes, lignin valorization, and bio-based materials, incorporating latest advancements into research strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and maintain well-documented research records for quality control and regulatory approvals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineers, scientists, business teams) to drive technology commercialization, industrial partnerships, and market adoption.
  • Facilitate stakeholder communication with academia, industry, and funding agencies to enhance research impact and funding opportunities.
  • Oversee project documentation and reporting to track progress and support decision-making for scaling operations.


Qualification

  • B.Tech/M.Tech/PhD in Chemical Engineering/ Biotechnology/ Materials Science/ Environmental Engineering or related fields with relevant industrial experience.
  • Experience in pilot-scale or lab-scale biorefinery projects.
  • Hands-on knowledge of chemical/biochemical analysis techniques.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic startup environment and contribute to innovative solutions.
