Quality Assurance Technician at Amazon, tests cutting edge applications and products at the user level, both manually and with automated tools. They are excellent individual contributors capable of taking up tasks from start to completion, with guidance. QAT would be responsible for understanding the features and components and detailed functional requirements well enough, coming up with the test cases with some guidance, test execution and reporting with high bar on quality. QATs are technically savvy in use of software, computers and devices, runs automated scripts, analyzes failures, support automation, can install and configure software, can use debug settings, have technical ability to gather logs, traces, etc. to add to bug reports when provided with instructions. They assist developers or other testers and maintain a high quality test environment, recommends improvements to SOPs, tools and metrics.

Key job responsibilities
1.Testing Applications and Products both manually and using automated tools.
2.Install and configure software, use debug settings and have technical ability to gather logs, traces, etc. to add to bug reports when provided with instructions.
3.Run automated scripts, analyze failures, support automation.
4.Identify issues, deep dive, troubleshoot, communicate to stake holders and escalation of issue and providing status reports
5.Assist QA and maintain a high-quality test environment, recommends improvements to SOPs, tools and metrics.

A day in the life
The Amazon team is looking for high-energy, detail-oriented, and technically-savvy QAT's to perform test execution on Amazon's devices and services. You will support test execution manually and through automated tools. You will troubleshoot using debug settings and share bug reports with necessary logs, run automated tests and analyze failures, identify, deep dive and report issues accurately. You will also challenge status quo and recommend improvements and help in maintaining the test environment, and report out test progress.

About the team
Chennai team deals with testing software across Fire Tablets, Kindle ereader, phone and Desktop. You will support execution of tests across platforms at the user level, both manually and with automated tools, understand and ramp up on testing procedures, guidelines and policies for new devices and apply the same in day-to-day work to ensure it meets Amazon's high quality bar.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of hands-on experience with the ownership of software project testing: defining test strategy, writing test plans, designing and executing software tests, iterative development process improvement
- Knowledge of QA methodology, industry-standard testing and bug tracking tools
- Demonstrated experience in writing and utilizing high-quality automation to solve test problems
- Software QA automation experience working with at least one programming language such as: Java, C#, Python.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong knowledge of QA methodology and automation tools, with demonstrated QA experience
- Hands-on experience creating and maintaining tests and automated test frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to mentor other quality assurance engineers to maintain software quality
- Creativity and initiative to improve test coverage, effectiveness or test processes
- Experience in testing web-based applications, widgets and interactive experiences.
- Strong sense of ownership, bias for action, and drive.
