Role Overview

Seeking a Head of Finance to join the core leadership team. This is a hands-on, individual contributor (IC) role to begin with where you will build the finance function from the ground up. You'll take full ownership of accounting, compliance, and financial strategy—transitioning all currently outsourced finance activities in-house —while partnering closely with the founders.

This is an ideal role for someone with deep finance and operations experience who thrives in lean, high-accountability environments and is excited to shape the financial backbone of a growing tech startup.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Planning

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, and reporting to drive strategic decisions.
  • Build financial models and dashboards for real-time decision support.
  • Collaborate with leadership on capital planning, unit economics, and fundraising.

Multi‑Entity Accounting & Transfer Pricing

  • Set up and manage multi-entity accounting (India + international entities) including inter-company transactions and consolidations.
  • Define and maintain transfer pricing policies , documentation, and ensure full compliance with Indian and international regulations.
  • Work with external advisors as needed but progressively bring this capability in-house.

Transition from Outsourced to In-House Finance

  • Assess current outsourced accounting and compliance setup.
  • Build internal systems, tools, and policies to bring core finance operations in-house over the first 6–12 months.
  • Hire and manage support resources (internal or external) as needed for scale.

Accounting Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee full accounting cycle: month-end close, audits, tax filings (GST, TDS, Income Tax, ROC), and internal controls.
  • Manage payroll, invoicing, reimbursements, and vendor payments.
  • Maintain compliance with all statutory requirements including FEMA and Companies Act.

Cross-Functional Partner

  • Work closely with founders, engineering, and operations to align spending with business goals.
  • Prepare board-level financial reports and assist with investor communications.
  • Help establish a performance-driven financial culture with transparency and accountability.

Who You Are

  • 8–12 years of experience in finance/accounting roles, ideally in early-stage startups or VC-backed companies in SAAS/IT services.
  • Proven experience in multi-entity financial operations , transfer pricing , and cross-border compliance.
  • Comfortable managing and transitioning from an outsourced to in-house finance model.
  • CA or MBA (Finance) with strong command over Indian regulatory frameworks.
  • Hands-on, self-driven, detail-oriented, and ready to scale with the company.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
