About the Role:

Seeking a technically proficient and analytical Junior Research Engineer to support numerical simulation, FEM model development, and analytical data generation for TRC wall panel systems.

This role will focus on developing finite element models, running parametric studies, simulating failure behaviors, and supporting the creation of a comprehensive digital design guide. The objective is to validate and optimize TRC panel configurations through advanced modelling in parallel with experimental testing.

Key Responsibilities:

Model Development & Simulation

  • Support the Senior Research Engineer in building 2D/3D FEM models of TRC panels using tools like Abaqus / ANSYS 
  • Simulate key performance factors including:
  • Bending & shear behavior
  • Progressive damage and cracking
  • Prestressing effects and fabric stress distribution
  • Sandwich panel performance under wind/seismic loading

Analytical Parametric Studies

  • Execute design variations across:
  • Fabric volume fraction, orientation, and material type
  • Skin-core interface properties
  • Panel geometries and loading conditions
  • Perform mesh sensitivity, material nonlinearity, and boundary condition optimization.

Result Validation & Reporting

  • Correlate simulation outcomes with experimental test results.
  • Prepare simulation result plots, stress-strain curves, and failure mode visualizations.
  • Assist in writing technical reports, datasheets, and documentation of analytical methodology.

Required Qualifications:

  • M.E. in Structural Engineering, Computational Mechanics, or Civil Engineering
  • 0–2 years of experience or strong project/internship work in FEM modelling
  • Proficient with at least one FEM platform (Abaqus preferred)

Desired Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong fundamentals in mechanics of materials, cementitious composites, and fracture analysis
  • Understanding of TRC/Ferrocement behavior is a plus
  • Knowledge of Python/MATLAB for scripting and automation (optional but beneficial)
  • Keen eye for design validation, result interpretation, and report preparation
  • Collaborative mindset with ability to coordinate with experimental teams
