• The Job 
  As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer- Storage, you will have oversight of all storage technologies, having direct involvement and impact on day-to-day activities and project work streams. You will be an expert in architecting, designing, installing, configuring, and maintaining our companyâs enterprise storage platforms which enable critical workflows. Our technical footprint consists of Hitachi and Netapp block and file storage, as well as virtualized and bare metal systems that are deployed on-premises and in the cloud; We are responsible for supporting a large range of business stakeholders and workloads from general computing to resource intensive development applications. The lead infrastructure engineer will bring a high-level of expertise in the administration of SAN and NAS storage systems and backup/recovery software that support bare metal and virtualized compute environments. A background in systems administration/Operating system support is preferred. A thorough understanding of server hardware and OS architecture, advanced networking and advanced storage solutions is necessary in this role. You will be responsible for all areas of the system development lifecycle including management, planning, provisioning, triage, monitoring, and decommissioning of storage systems and associated hardware technologies. You will document solutions ensuring best practices are followed and update stakeholders related to system changes. You will partner with peers and management staff on capacity planning analysis and monitoring methodologies. Concurrently you will provide tier three support for all storage and backup technologies for end-users across various Warner Bros. Discovery locations across the globe.

Your Role Accountabilities: 

Engineering/Primary Responsibilities 

• Provide direction or guidance to less experienced staff comprised of a storage/backup focused engineer(s) 

• Must be capable of making sound decisions in the absence of detailed instruction; Create, implement, and maintain policies, standards, and guidelines to implement, support, and protect our IT assets. 

• Architect, build, maintain, and support storage delivery platforms based on technical requirements provided by application, and business stakeholders. 

• Leads critical patching and vulnerability remediations on storage arrays and subsystems 

• Leads the configuration, management, and maintenance of active directory and group policy for storage and filesystem authentication  

• Design, install, configure, and manage storage areas networks (SAN), network attached storage (NAS), and associated fibre-channel switching fabrics (Brocade) 

• Implement, manage, and support backup and recovery software (Veritas NetBackup, CommVault, Veeam) 

• Tune storage systems and server operating systems to increase performance and reliability of data. 

• Provision and configure storage volumes, disk pools, raid groups, over various storage systems (Hitachi, NetApp, EMC) 

• Create and maintain documentation. Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and latest technology trends 

• Participates in all storage integration design sessions. 

• Other duties and projects as assigned and in a timely fashion. 

Operations 

• Leads regular monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of all infrastructure solutions to ensure performance, capacity, and four nines reliability; accepts ownership and seeks timely resolution. 

• Collaborates with developers and other stakeholders to ensure software and operating systems are performing correctly and efficiently utilizing best practices. 

• Automate storage administration tasks utilizing open-source configuration management tools. 

• Ensure the highest levels of up-time; Respond to storage alerts quickly ensuring that all aspects of our storage and systems infrastructure are at production levels. 

• Implement and use monitoring tools, patch management tools, and storage management tools. 

• Handle Tier 3 (complex) issues providing advanced support and triage of end-to-end storage platforms; Works with the vendor as needed. 

• Must be willing to accommodate weekend, shift, or on-call schedules when necessary. 

Analytics 

• Develop comprehensive performance analysis of business processes and review ways of improvement. 

• Actively participate in stakeholder meetings with the goal of understanding all major projects and initiatives planned. 

• Design and implement backup, disaster recovery or business continuity strategies 

Qualifications & Experiences: 

• Candidate must possess 8-10 years of experience in either a Storage Administration or Engineering role demonstrating proven experience with backup and recovery technologies, various operating systems, advanced block and file storage systems and troubleshooting. 

• Bachelorâs degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required. 

• Candidate must have demonstrated lead / hands on experience with the following technologies: 

• Deep understanding of storage technologies and protocols (i.e. iSCSI, NFS, SMB, CIFS) and hardware (Hitachi, NetApp, EMC) 

• Backup and recovery software (i.e. Veeam, CommVault, NetBackup) 

• Familiarity with linux and windows server operating systems as well as virtualization technologies (vmware) 

• Deep understanding of storage technologies and protocols ( i.e. iSCSI, NFS, SMB/CIFS) and hardware (EMC, NetApp, Dell, Pure) 

• Active directory and/or single sign-on methodologies for storage and filesystem authentication 

• Knowledge of storage networking concepts such as Fibre-Channel, Ethernet, Zoning, and Masking 

• Proven track record in managing complex block and file storage environments (SAN/NAS) 

• The candidate must have excellent communications skills to be successful. 

• Self-starter with ability to organize information and produce technical documentation for operational effectiveness. 

• Position requires after hours support for outages/impairments. Candidates will participate in a 24x7 on call support rotation. 

 

Not Required but preferred experience: 

• Familiarity with Amazon AWS or Azure Cloud environments (hybrid-storage) 

• Experience with enterprise storage in a media broadcast environment. 

• Relevant storage certifications
