Summary:
- Under general supervision, the Associate Consultant, Credit Analysis is responsible for underwriting and evaluating credit requests including personal, commercial, not for profit, and real estate.
- Partners with bankers and relationship managers in underwriting and preparing loan memoranda for new loans, renewals, restructures, reviews, and amendments within policy guidelines.
- Research and analyze pertinent financial statements of individuals, businesses, and other entities.
Major Duties:
- Review individuals/entities' financials/annual reports and other supporting financial data to accurately prepare spreads in Moody's Credit Lens (MCL).
- Analyze the individuals/entities' financials/annual reports, quarterly statements, tax returns and other supporting financial data to determine their financial position and creditworthiness.
- Perform credit analysis of large or key clients that require thorough understanding of credit.
- Evaluate and underwrite credit requests across disciplines including personal, commercial, not for profit, and commercial real estate.
- Partner with Bankers, Relationship Managers, and other internal clients through financial/credit analysis and identification of risk factors.
- Adds value to ultimate client relationship by providing timely response and quality underwriting in coordination with client needs.
- Perform quality check of the spreads/reports completed by the junior analysts and ensure they are as per the guidelines.
- Leverage his or her experience to suggest and implement process improvements.
- Work on special projects and other projects as identified by the division management.
- Develop subject matter expertise, provide guidance, and act as mentors to junior analysts.
- Perform complex activities with significant financial, client, and/or internal business impact.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Significant Knowledge of U.S. finance and accounting usually acquired through formal education and appropriate experience required to analyze and evaluate financial statements.
- Knowledge of applicable industry laws and regulations required to review operational, credit, and business risk.
- Analytical and communication skills (verbal and written) are required to analyze entities' operating performance and prepare presentations.
- Good working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
Experience Required:
- 4-6 years of banking or other financial/credit analysis-related experience.
