Key Responsibilities:

  1. Draft and negotiate various IP agreements with external parties.
  2. Conduct patentability searches and analyses to assess the novelty and inventiveness of inventions.
  3. Draft patent applications in accordance with applicable patent laws and regulations.
  4. Prepare responses to office actions and other communications from the Indian Patent Office and international patent offices.
  5. Conduct patent validity and infringement analyses.
  6. Indepth knowledge on Standard Essential Patents (SEP), SEP negotiations, claim mapping and related works.
  7. Advise on patent strategy, including portfolio management and enforcement.
  8. Provide legal opinions on patent-related matters, including freedom-to-operate and non-infringement opinions.
  9. Assist in patent litigation and dispute resolution proceedings.
  10. Independently manage and oversee the IP department, which may include patent attorneys, IP analysts, IP engineers, IP paralegals and business stakeholders.
  11. Independently manage the Company's IP portfolio, which could include patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and other forms of IP.
  12. Stay updated on developments in patent law and industry trends.
  13. Reports to Head of Legal.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in law from a recognized institution.
  2. Registered Patent Agent.
  3. Having 10 plus years of exhaustive work experience practicing patent law, preferably in a law firm or corporate setting.
  4. Strong understanding of patent laws and regulations.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  7. Proficiency in conducting patent searches using online databases and other resources.
  8. Experience with drafting and prosecuting patent applications in various technical fields.
  9. Knowledge of international patent laws and procedures is a plus.
