Mahila Housing Trust (MHT) is seeking a skilled and motivated Geo-Social AI Developer to join an innovative project focused on creating a city-level heat resilience model for Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The project will act as a model for mid-sized urban areas throughout India, utilising AI and community involvement to lessen the effects of extreme heat on vulnerable populations.

Job Description

The Geo-Social AI Developer will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of the project's Geo-AI model. This will involve working with large datasets, applying machine learning algorithms, and collaborating with a team to create a robust and impactful solution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a Geo-AI model in collaboration with the project team to identify Urban Heat Islands (UHI) in Ahmedabad using tools like Google Earth Engine and satellite data.
  • Collect, process, and analyse data from various sources, including satellite imagery, weather stations, and ground-level observations.
  • Apply machine learning algorithms and spatial analysis techniques to develop predictive models and identify heat-vulnerable areas.
  • Work with GIS software (ArcGIS Pro, QGIS) to visualise data, create maps, and develop the "cool routes" feature.
  • Collaborate with community stakeholders to gather feedback and ensure the model and its outputs are relevant to the local context.
  • Contribute to the development of reports and presentations to communicate project findings to various stakeholders.
  • Participate in capacity-building efforts to train others on using the developed tools and understanding the model's outputs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Geomatics, Data Science, or a related field.

Skills:

  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with libraries like TensorFlow and Scikit-Learn.
  • Experience with Geo-AI concepts, machine learning algorithms, and their application in urban settings.
  • Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, QGIS) and experience with spatial analysis.
  • Ability to work with and analyse large datasets, including remote sensing data.
  • Teamwork and Communication:
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
