Position Overview:


The Medical Billing Team Leader will be responsible for managing and overseeing the billing team’s daily operations, ensuring accurate and timely claim submissions, resolving complex billing issues, and maintaining strong relationships with clients. With at least 8 years of experience in medical billing and a minimum of 2 years in a managerial or leadership role, the ideal candidate will bring in-depth knowledge of medical billing practices, a strong understanding of payer requirements, and the ability to lead and mentor a team of billers. This role will also require direct interaction with clients to ensure service excellence and issue resolution.


Key Responsibilities:

• Team Management & Leadership:

• Lead and manage a team of medical billing specialists to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely processing of claims.

• Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and support to the billing team.

• Assign tasks based on workload and team strengths, while ensuring adherence to deadlines and performance standards.

• Conduct regular performance evaluations, deliver constructive feedback, and manage team development plans.

• Foster a positive and productive team environment, focusing on motivation, collaboration, and professional growth.


Billing & Claims Oversight:

• Oversee the accurate and timely submission of medical claims, ensuring compliance with payer rules and regulations.

• Review and audit claims for completeness, accuracy, and compliance before submission.

• Address and resolve billing discrepancies, rejected claims, and denials by analyzing root causes and ensuring timely re-submissions.

• Ensure all claims are tracked and managed through the appropriate channels to guarantee reimbursement.


Client Management & Communication:

• Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding billing inquiries and issues.

• Ensure client expectations are met by providing timely and clear communication about billing processes, claim statuses, and outstanding issues.

• Collaborate with clients to resolve complex billing or payment concerns, providing solutions while maintaining strong, positive relationships.

• Regularly update clients on the status of accounts and advise on best practices for improving billing processes.


Reporting & Analysis:

• Monitor key billing metrics, including aging reports, claim rejections, and denial trends, and communicate insights to senior management.

• Provide regular reporting to both internal management and external clients on the billing team’s performance and trends.

• Track billing efficiency, accuracy, and collection ratios, identifying areas for improvement.


Process Improvement & Compliance:

• Continuously assess and refine billing processes to ensure improved efficiency and accuracy.

• Ensure the billing team is well-trained and stays up to date on changes in medical coding, payer guidelines, and healthcare regulations.

• Enforce adherence to HIPAA, data protection laws, and organizational policies in all billing activities.


Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree

• Medical Billing and Coding certification (preferred but not mandatory).

• Experience:

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in medical billing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role managing a billing team.

• Experience working with US-based clients or in a global remote team environment is highly preferred.

• Strong knowledge of medical coding systems (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) and healthcare payer policies.

• Demonstrated ability to handle complex billing issues and claim disputes.
