Job Title: Devops Engineer

Years of Experience: 5 - 7 Years

Location: Chennai (Hybrid) (3rd Floor, Prince Infocity-II, Rajiv Gandhi Salai, Kandhanchavadi, Chennai, India – 600096)

Primary Skills: Proficiency in automation tools like Jenkins, Ansible, or Puppet, knowledge of scripting languages like Python or Bash, understanding of containerization with Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes, experience with JIRA, familiarity with version control systems like Git, and experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, OCI or Google Cloud.

Role Summary:

DevOps engineering role involves leading and executing the implementation of DevOps practices within an organization. Responsibilities include designing and architecting scalable infrastructure, developing CI/CD pipelines, automating tasks and processes, ensuring monitoring and security measures, optimizing performance and scalability, fostering collaboration, mentoring junior team members, and staying current with industry trends. Overall, DevOps engineers play a crucial role in driving efficiency, reliability, and continuous improvement in product delivery through the adoption of DevOps principles and practices.

What will you do?

• Designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and highly available infrastructure solutions using on-prem datacentres and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, OCI or Google Cloud. This includes designing architectures that are resilient, secure, and cost-effective.
• Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment processes. This involves selecting and configuring appropriate tools and technologies such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI.
• Automate repetitive tasks and processes using scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell. They also utilize configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management. Additionally, they orchestrate containerized applications using tools like Kubernetes.
• Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure the health, performance, and availability of applications and infrastructure. This involves setting up tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), or Datadog.
• Work closely with security teams to implement best practices for security, compliance, and risk management. They ensure that security measures are integrated into every aspect of the development and deployment process, including infrastructure configuration, code deployment, and access control.
• Optimize the performance and scalability of applications and infrastructure by identifying bottlenecks, tuning configurations, and implementing performance monitoring and optimization strategies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including development, operations, and QA to drive DevOps adoption and best practices within the organization. They mentor and provide technical guidance to junior team members and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Stay abreast of the latest trends, tools, and technologies in DevOps, cloud computing, automation, and software development methodologies. They evaluate new technologies and tools to assess their suitability for the organization's needs.

What is expected from an individual?

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering or a related field.
• 5 - 7 years of experience in DevOps or related roles, with a proven track record of designing and implementing complex infrastructure solutions.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Hands-on experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
• Expertise in containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration with Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and experience with on-prem datacentres and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, OCI or Google Cloud.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, CircleCI).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in distributed systems.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator)
