Purpose of the Role:

The Program Coordinator will:

Effectively lead, mentor and inspire a team of Early Years Childcare Teachers to deliver a unique, world-class Early Years educational program for a specified age group, with the highest care and education standards.

Ensure the teaching team provides safe and nurturing environments for children that encourage their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.


Lead the implementation of our developmentally appropriate Childcare curriculum by:-

  • Ensuring that children’s safety and wellbeing are of utmost importance at all times.
  • Providing a stimulating and inviting environment which encourages independence, self-motivation and an eagerness to learn.
  • Leading the team in developing and sustaining strong parent partnerships.


Key Tasks:

Ensure that children’s safety and wellbeing are of utmost importance at all times.


  • Plan efficient staff deployment, maintaining specific staffing ratios for the centre.
  • Provide an enabling, stimulating and inviting environment, in both the indoor and outdoor area, which encourages independence, self-motivation and an eagerness to learn.
  • Supervise and lead the team to consistently plan and deliver a developmentally appropriate curriculum with rich learning opportunities that helps all children to develop and meets their individual needs.
  • Lead the development of planning, including short, long, individual and groups plans and oversee the implementation of activities in relation to the program.
  • Lead the team by effective delivery of the key person approach, to make accurate and effective assessments which reflect the needs, interests, and stages of development of the child.
  • Lead the team in developing and sustaining strong parent partnerships, communicating effectively at daily drop-off/pick-up and through all meetings with families.
  • Lead and model positive discipline techniques in guiding children’s behaviour according to Bright Horizons policy on emotional wellbeing and behaviour.
  • Promote and follow guidelines implemented for supporting children’s emotional wellbeing and behaviour.
  • Promote inclusion and relationships with children with or without SEND.
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication at all levels.
  • Lead the team in maintaining and reviewing accurate and effective children’s records.
  • Lead and model best practice in relation to Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Lead the induction of staff in relation to all aspects of the educational program.
  • Contribute to performance appraisals including regular observations and feedback.
  • Work as part of a Senior team to ensure all essential day-to-day tasks are completed in line with the center demands.
  • When required, be the Designated Safeguarding Lead at the centre and hold overall responsibility for the management of safeguarding and child protection policies in the centre.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions for continuous professional development.


Experience Required:

  • Leading teams through coaching and mentoring.
  • Experience of efficient staff deployment and rostering.
  • Experience of leading Early Years / Childcare education programmes, teams and has good ICT knowledge.
  • Experience of conducting audits, inspection and creating action plans.
  • Coaching and mentoring experience.

Qualifications

  • Graduation, preferably in Education or Psychology.
  • Qualification in Early Years Care and Education/Nursery Teacher’s Training/Montessori Training.
  • Relevant safeguarding/child protection training undertaken and a willingness to update training regularly.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
