We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Development Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of SONiC NOS. As a senior developer, you will help build scalable and robust multi-vendor networking solutions for enterprise data centers.


You’ll be joining a dynamic team of engineers and innovators who have built data platforms for AWS, Microsoft, and Nvidia, cloud mobility platforms at MobileIron, and robust network infrastructures at Cisco and Gigamon and are bringing their expertise in building AI-Native apps networking. We’re dedicated to advancing technology and fostering your professional and personal growth in a supportive, collaborative environment.


Job Description:


  • Design and Development: Build new features and enhance existing functionalities for the SONiC NOS platform.
  • Protocols: Implement, optimize, and troubleshoot networking protocols such as Layer 2 Switching, BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, and more.
  • ASIC Integration: Work closely with ASIC vendors for porting and integration of SONiC NOS on network ASICs and hardware platforms.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, QA, and Product Management, to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Debugging and Troubleshooting: Analyze and resolve complex issues in the network stack and NOS environment.
  • Open Source Contributions: Contribute to the SONiC open-source community by developing and maintaining code, addressing issues, and participating in discussions.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in software development, preferably in networking or operating systems.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages like Python, C, and C++.
  • Deep understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies (e.g., Layer 2/3 protocols, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with open networking software, especially SONiC, and familiarity with its architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with SAI (Switch Abstraction Interface) and network ASIC programming.
  • Strong understanding of containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud networking.
  • Familiarity with Linux networking stack, including Netlink, and kernel networking modules.
  • Experience in contributing to open-source projects and working in collaborative development environments (e.g., GitHub, Gerrit).
  • Excellent debugging skills using tools like GDB, Wireshark, tcpdump, or equivalent.
